There were gasps and the conversations at the table came to an abrupt halt.
“What?” Asked Finral aloud, it was the first word he had said all evening.
Nearly everyone at the table turned to stare at him as if only now remembering or noticing his presence. Except the baron who greedily downed the rest of his current glass.
He misheard that. Surely, he must have.

"Naturally, Mimosa tried to broach the topic once at least concerning Yuno's biological mother and it resulted in the worst argument between Yuno and Mimosa. The two just didn't argue, but this erupted into a fight that Langris just watched in horror. He didn't like the yelling, not from Mimosa and Yuno, not from the two people that managed to keep Langris grounded. It brought him back to his childhood days at the Vaude House."
Of course Langris doesn't like when his partners argue. Finral explains the reasons why.

The esteemed owners of Vauditren Real Estate and Industrial Developments, Ledior and Liliane Vaude, were arrested at their city penthouse yesterday evening. The billion dollar company and its assets have been frozen as part of the police investigation. At the time of going to press, further details have not not been made public. A police spokesman declined our request for an interview.
There has been no official comment from the company's public relations department. Board members, including the Vaudes' son and heir, Langris Vaude, were unreachable.

Summary
Langris Vaude believed for months that the brother he had not seen for six years died in a basement at the hands of a rogue fire mage. The body he saw with his parents did not look like Finral, but Xerx Lugner was the vice-captain of the purple orca. If he said it was Finral who died, then there was nothing Langris could do that would prove otherwise.
So, it has been a traumatic couple of days as Langris gets caught in a rock fall, rescued by the Black Bulls almost-rookie and nearly loses his leg. Then he finds his brother has been living with the Bulls, unable to hear or speak after he too was rescued by the Black Bulls almost-rookie months ago. Langris had been right. It had not been Finral's body.
Now Langris has to make sense of what this all means. He needs to talk to some people.
Alternate title: Three conversations Langris Vaude has in the aftermath of Hunted. And one that William Vangeance has that changes more than anyone could foresee.

Finral is not ready for the revelations about his magic and his family, even if his mother does sound pretty amazing. He is not the only one learning things they never knew about their parents. They are all going to have to come to terms with their family history if they are to prevent the same disaster happening again.

This isn’t the first time Captain Yami has had to leave port before the Purple Orca ask stupid questions and start planting evidence. It also isn’t the first time that Finral has found something in the cargo that shouldn’t be there. Last time it was a thumb.
At least this time the person is still alive. Finral thinks he looks awfully familiar. If only Yami had given him time to check properly.
