Summary
Túrin is of age, and Thingol, in an attempt to adhere to mortal customs, arranges a marriage for him. Thingol's niece, Lady Maeglin of Nan Elmoth, will surely be a suitable partner, and this will quietly shut down a few political issues in the process. Túrin accepts this with some reservations.
But Maeglin, stuck in Doriath after his and Aredhel's escape attempt ended with him being recaptured, hates the idea of being anyone's wife, and he isn't sure he can trust Túrin enough to be his husband, either.

Lintë, a long-time follower of the House of Fëanor and the horsemistress of Rivendell, wants to find Maeglin and bring him home. She'll make sure he gets Rivendell's unconditional welcome whether he wants it or not.
The only stumbling block is Glorfindel.

Fingon died in the Fifth Battle, and unfortunately this means that there needs to be a new diplomatic marriage to unite the Noldor, as was decreed many years ago (mostly to let Maedhros and Fingon get married).
Celebrimbor is the only option on the Fëanorian side, and Maeglin gets volunteered for his side of the family, and neither of them are happy with this arrangement.

Maeglin gets a mysterious (and very mandatory) invitation after being reembodied. Leaving aside the mystery of how it found its way to him, he's not sure what it's for.

Summary
Turgon has had enough of Maeglin pining over Idril, and seeks to give him something better to do with his time. Having Maeglin marry one of the lords of the city will grant him a companion (after all, he seems so horribly lonely!), get his mind off of Idril, and let him take up more responsibility like he wants to. It's the perfect solution.
Glorfindel is delighted to be marrying the prince he's been hiding his affections for, but Maeglin finds this no kinder than a death sentence: he had thought that being in love with someone unattainable would make him off-limits for anyone to court.
But Glorfindel is determined to make Maeglin happy, even if Maeglin can't love him, and Maeglin isn't as immune to being treated kindly as he might think he is.
