Summary
“C’mere.” Hizashi’s voice also catches in the wind, almost floating over Shouta’s head.
The rest of their lunch is spent with Shouta’s head leaned up against Hizashi’s shoulder. No other words are spoken other than soft whispers, Hizashi asking Shouta if he’s comfortable or if he should adjust. Shouta always says no. Hand in hand, Hizashi traces mindless shapes into the back of Shouta’s hand, trailing his slim fingers up to knuckles, rubbing in between the joints. It’s a quiet plea of tranquility, a query where Shouta asks Hizashi if it’s okay for him to fall to pieces a little more before he has to pick himself back up.
Still, Shouta can’t help but scan the rooftops for the silhouette of a taller boy with fluffy hair and a smile so brilliant that it somehow even brightens Shouta’s day. Somehow, Hizashi catches onto his silent pleas and runs a hand through Shouta’s unkempt hair, slowly untangling some of the knots with his fingers.

And finally, the door jingled open. Oliver forced his usual service worker smile and looked up to greet whoever was at the door.
“Good evening! Welcome to the— What the fuck?” Oliver did not mean to scream those last three words as loud as he did. He took a step back as his optical sensor went wide with surprise. “Randy, what the hell.”
In all of his glory, Randal Jade was standing at the door, hunched over. The door closed behind him as he attempted to waddle his way forward. The thing that concerned Oliver the most was that he was covered in blood. There was even some blood caked on his phone head. Randy was usually covered in blood, but this seemed a little too excessive.-
Oliver Swift is working a late night at the cinema, trying to figure out what to film for his movie that he hopes will save the cinema. Thank Phone-God that the topic of conversation walks right through the door, covered in blood.

Hizashi covers his face with his hands instinctively. Just the word has his face flushing even more. “You don’t have to say it!”
“No, no—“ He hears Shouta mumble something inaudible under his breath then clears his throat. Hizashi grabs his glasses from the rocks, slipping them on, and finally catches the red tinting Shouta’s cheeks. He motions his head down, like he’s instinctively trying to hide his face in his scarf. Maybe he is. “Okay, what can I do?”

Summary
With slow movements, he pries the pen out from Oboro’s fingers, careful not to disturb the peace in the air. Shouta sets the pen down on the desk and finally holds Oboro’s hand. He laces their fingers together like thread through fabric.
While Oboro hasn’t once looked at him.
“Do you want to tell me what’s wrong?” asks Shouta. Oboro can hear the frown on his face in his voice, and all he can think about is why Shouta would put this much energy into caring for somebody like Oboro. Someone who has made their lives so difficult.
So Oboro softly says, “not really.”
Shouta hums. “That’s okay. We’ll talk about it when you’re ready.”

It’s all so much. And yet everything feels weightless when Oboro’s around.
Their shoulders brush against each other and they laugh like they’re children playing in the sandbox, building castles, sharing supplies. Shouta laughs with his fingers over his mouth and his shoulders hunched up like he’s embarrassed the red is creeping up to his ears. Oboro laughs loud, he’s strong, intentional and unabashed. There’s sand in their hair and under their nails and in their shoes, and they’re probably going to find the grains in their clothes for days afterwards.
But Shouta doesn’t mind it. Shouta never minds it.

genuinely truly one of the greatest pieces of literature i've ever read. you don't even have to know anything about mha to enjoy this fic, but i find that watching mha alongside reading this fic REALLY makes the experience more enjoyable (as someone who recently started rewatching the series since 2018 lmao).
ant does such an incredibly job at capturing the essence of every character, despite this being an au with a completely different setting. not a lot of fics are able to do that, yet you have such a talent for it. it's so impressive. izuku's struggle to find happiness is something that especially means so much to me and i always manage to fall in love with the writing over and over again, no matter how many times i reread this fic. every character is fleshed out and there is so much thought put into everything, even the characters and the callbacks. aside from izuku and katsumi, i think shoto and hitoshi's characterization especially scratches such an itch in my brain. i love it so peak so peak so peak <3
i'm so excited to see what else you cook !! PLEASE give this fic a shot !! it changed my brain chemistry i think. such a masterpiece ! #iamtheantdaysglazer2025 -

Despite having been rescued from the Nether a while ago, Laurance still cannot seem to escape it. Every night he's back there, being reminded of the long and painful process that turned him into what he is today. Moreover, it's difficult being the second in command of a village when you're running on two hours of sleep each night and wake up every night to the sound of your own screams.
It's even more difficult when the head guard is caring, observant, and enjoys being incredibly helpful.
