Summary
As a fan of PJ's trilogy as my entrypoint to all things Lord of The Rings, one of the aspects that have caught my attention the most since has been the difference in reception between Movie! Frodo and other characters of the cinematic adaptation. In particular because of how often his character is overlooked, or leveled complaints against under the notion of "having been watered down from the book." I don't intend to take those complaints at face value, and thus, I'm not responding to them, but the cultural context in which I believe they emerged. Therefore, my intent is to offer a shift in perspective, as well as more general, socially-oriented analysis, beyond the landscape of particular fandom disagreements and squabbles.
Welcome, my dear guests, to my hobbit hole as I elaborate in detail on Frodo's character in the movies, his reception, and the theoretical framework of Campbell's Heroic Journey and its limitations when it comes to analysing LOTR. Sigh. Yes, you can have some tea and explore the pantry. Be sure to get cozy for a short dissertation, whether you're Movie! Frodo fans, skeptics, or neutral on the whole matter. Let's begin!

"I wonder, I wonder... do you know what I wonder?"
"I hear there's going to be another duel out back in the forest today!"
"Oh, brave warrior, you're going to fight for your friend, meddlesome brave warrior!"
"But beware... They fight by a Code, there in the forest."
After the sudden disappearance of her coworker, belligerent friend, and fallen idol, Nyaa is left with no option but to follow her trail. A visit to the fish shop gives her sparse information about Totoko's whereabouts from her parents' lacking responses, prompting Nyaa to pursue real answers herself. At the gates of the prestigious Ohtori Academy, she's met with the cryptic offering of an engraved ring that culminates in chaos, as she's to fight for Totoko's hand in a world of fairy tale duels that promise the Power of Miracles and the Rose Bride to the Champion.
Nyaa must make her choice; wield a sword to reclaim Totoko's personhood, or leave her at the mercy of the feverish system that took her away.

Summary
For an ent as long-lived as Treebeard, a couple days is no time at all. Then, how is it that, in just a little while, his two hobbit companions have left their fingerprints on his heart? Moments that, in times of strife, were a sliver of liquid golden light, solidifying in memories that don't fade, long after Merry and Pippin left. This is the story of those little moments of levity, beacons of hope that soon move a grief-stricken ent to choose connection again. And perhaps, to an understanding of the past that, through the warmth offered to him by such small creatures, grows all the greater.
For LOTR WEEK 2025 - Day 5, Woods/ It grows perhaps all the greater

Interesting! Who would have thought that being loved by a ghost is no better than being regarded with hatred by it? With the existencial curse of becoming part of the festering shadow ensemble that feeds the grudge being presented here, it's food for thought!

Summary
"Ryuunosuke knew that she’d be “home” soon. Back to that makeshift living space in the school store, back to reality. But somehow, things seemed better now, even if they hadn’t changed at all.
Ran sang as she walked next to her, a bubbly bounce to her step. Perhaps she always walked like that. Perhaps it was really a part of her, now, even if it started out as a contrived part of a pristine persona.
Maybe Ryuunosuke was wholly herself, now, too, an amalgamation of many experiences."Or, the one where Ryuunosuke and Ran find friendship- and more- where they least expected to.

Bookmarker's Notes
Evocative, well-crafted moments of otherworldly experiences from beings so detached from common, mortal experience. Graphic description of wounds. An interesting, to say the least, take on the central characters'relationship, fascinating and yet repulsive for my humble mortal standards, would (will) read again.
