At the altar is probably the last place one would want to find out they're making a mistake. It was possibly better than ten years down the line and two screaming children later, but not by much. It had to be an embarrassing experience, Akira could imagine. He'd seen movies, of course, usually silly little cookie cutter films where the girl left the big city and her fiancé behind to visit her hometown in the middle of fucking nowheresville and was reminded of the true meaning of Christmas by some man she'd only known for a week. Or less, sometimes.
But Akira wouldn't be leaving his spot any time soon, especially not for some guy he'd known for a week. He loved her, he knew that, he did— she was a fantastic friend, loyal to a fault, compatible with him in ways no other was, except for...
Goro Akechi strolled in after Sojiro led him down the aisle, as stunning and radiant as the day Akira had met him. He felt his breath catch in his throat, heart-stopping seconds later, and just… knew exactly what those girls must have been feeling in the movies. What made them think running away with their high-school sweetheart was ever a good idea.
