Summary
Set in an alternate world in which... Aunt May has a new boyfriend after the death of Ben and his brother and sister and law. Peter doesn't like Obie one bit, and the feeling is mutual. They both have their reasons, only Obie's run a little deeper than anyone would expect.
“Hi, Mr. Obie, sir,” he says, his voice steadier this time.
Obie nods, the sharpness in his expression easing just a little. May doesn’t scold him again when Peter steps back behind her leg, her hand resting lightly on his shoulder.
Eugene from school once told him that after his mom and dad divorced, his dad got a new girlfriend who sucked. But she didn’t stick around—Eugene said she was a “rebound.” Peter still doesn’t really know what that word means, but he hopes it means May’s new boyfriend won’t stick around either.
Because if Peter learns anything that day, it’s that he’s pretty sure he doesn’t like Obie.

Which includes that time he kidnapped Tony Stark’s kid in 2007. 12 years later, after tracking Nicholas Stark down again on a trip that takes him halfway around the world, he drops the teenager now known as Peter Parker off on Tony’s doorstep.
Then Peter and Tony are left to deal with the aftermath.

“I would kill for a martini,” Natasha commented as they entered the Gala. Her dress was sleek, black, and off the shoulder, and Tony knew it to be an early birthday present from their parents. She’d torn a page out of a magazine a month ago, that dress displayed on a model, and stuck it to her bedroom door, so they’d see it in the hall.
“You can kill as much as you like,” Tony replied, “you’re still underage.”
She laughed. “Like that ever stopped you. Rhodey told me you got wasted before you were even my age.”
“Rhodey’s a snitch.” Still, he relented. “I’ll sneak you one later.”
Natasha grinned up at him. “I knew you were my favourite brother for a reason.”
“I’m your only brother.”
“Then wouldn’t it be depressing if you were my least favourite?”

Summary
Tony Stark wants it on record, that since he met his son all those years ago, he had tried and tried, to give Peter the closest thing to a normal life he could get. He also wants it on record, that for the first eleven years, he had succeeded in this. Even with the hecticness of switching between his father’s place and his aunt’s and uncle’s place every other week, Peter Parker had had a normal life outside of the public eye, his father’s fame, his father’s moonlighting as a superhero, and the Avengers.
In all reality, it wasn’t even Tony’s fault-- and no, he was not above blaming his child for this mess, because it was Peter’s fault. Had it not been for the kid's recklessness, the kid would have been home that weekend. Away from the compound, and away from the Avengers. But, if there was one thing Tony Stark had learned in all his years, it was that things never went to plan.

“I know we just met, Peter, but Tony is just down the hall and so very excited to finally meet you."
She was wrong, of course, Tony Stark was not excited to meet him. If he was excited to meet him, he would have met him at some point in his 13 years of life. Not now, not only after he had nowhere else in the world to go. Now he’s just stuck with him, unable to pretend Peter didn't exist, as he'd done since the day he was born.
Finally gathering the courage, Peter nodded and walked from the elevator, being led by the two adults down a long hallway. They stopped in front of a closed door, Ms. Potts knocked twice before pushing the door open.
Sitting at a small table was the one and only, Tony Stark.
Their eyes met instantly and Peter lost the ability to breathe properly. It wasn’t as if he’d never seen Tony Stark on TV before, but this was different. This was not Iron Man flying around fighting bad guys, this wasn’t smarmy, grinning Tony Stark mouthing off to reports at a press conference. This wasn't the larger than life presence that loomed over New York, a protector, a genius, an inventor.
This was Tony Stark, Peter's biological father.

There was nothing beautiful about death.
Peter didn’t understand why so many movies seemed to think that there was, that there was something heroic and worthwhile in it, because Peter had seen it up close, had smelt it, touched it, and it was... it was indescribably horrific. It was ugly, and traumatizing, and you were never, ever ready.
There was no version of existence where Peter would’ve been prepared for Tony to die.
