Maddie laughs. She has to. Of course her brother would have a nose finely attuned to sex.
“Chimney hasn't been home,” she says, as if he needs an explanation for why someone would need to get off.
Maddie is struggling to keep everything together during her maternity leave. Her husband is never home, too busy with his new role as interim captain and the weight of his grief, and she can't do it alone. She leans on her brother, more than is fair, but never more than Buck is willing to give.

A normal person would’ve finished the sentence. Shower. But Ryan leaves the sentence hanging just long enough to let implication bloom, as if a shower isn’t the only thing Oliver will get up to in there.
Not that it’s any of Ryan’s business, Oliver thinks haughtily, ten minutes later, fist moving in short and furious strokes under the scalding water.

It doesn't happen the next time they see each other, but it does happen again. It happens again and again, and soon it starts happening every time Buck goes to Athena's house. They still have dinner, but sometimes they fuck while their food simmers; Athena held tight in Buck’s arms, legs wrapped around his hips as he fucks her fast and hot against the smooth marble countertop. Sometimes he’s allowed to take off Bobby’s apron, but usually it’s left to hang between their bodies, like it could cover what they’re doing. Buck doesn’t mind. It’s the only time Athena keeps her eyes open.

“I mean—” and Eddie cuts himself off immediately. He doesn’t know if correcting Buck and saying he fucked me is the best course of action at this point.
Buck stares, almost hopeful, as if expecting Eddie to follow it up with a negative on the accusation. I mean, that’s not what happened or, I mean, that’s clearly lotion on the bed, dumbass. Buck stares and stares, and the hope withers and dies, and he finally lets out a short, disbelieving laugh that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Jesus, Eddie. So what— what, you fuck men now? Were you even gonna tell me?”
Or, Eddie sleeps with the Boston firefighter, and Buck takes it about as well as you'd expect. What's a little roughhousing between friends, anyway?
