Summary
Shane Hollander is the most respected hockey journalist in Canada. He's been covering the Boston Raiders for three years. He has interviewed Ilya Rozanov fourteen times in a professional capacity. He has written 47,000 words about Ilya Rozanov's career. He has approximately zero words for what happens when Rozanov corners him in a hotel corridor after Game 7 and says, very quietly, in that voice: "You always leave before I can talk to you." Shane has absolutely no idea what to do with that.
(Or: Shane doesn't play hockey. He just writes about the man who does. It is, objectively, worse.)- Language:

Summary
“Okay, Okay.” His mom put her hands up in defense, laughing off any sort of seriousness that was spread across his face. “You’re using protection, right?” Shane looked up at her, glaring at her through his eyelashes and she got the memo to drop it further. “Jesus Christ." he breathed out annoyedly, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Technically, no they weren't using protection. Shane liked the feeling of it without it so sue him if he likes it raw.
He has free will.--

Summary
Ilya Rozanov came to Duke University with a plan: to win a championship, get drafted as the #1 pick in the NBA, then leave Duke and become an NBA Hall of Famer.
Everything is going according to plan.
Well. Was. It was going to plan.
Because he meets Shane Hollander, and suddenly all he can think about is his freckles and how to steal him from his stupid boyfriend, who also happens to be Ilya's teammate.

Shane does not know what he is staring at when he reads the name of the chat and the influx of texts.
This looks like actual hell, and more importantly why on earth would Ilya add him to the Boston WAGS chat?
TLDR: In an attempt to socialise in this new country Ilya puts 'jane' down as his WAG to connect to the team, this has unforeseen consequences for himself.

Summary
Boston.
Shane just got traded to fucking Boston. To where Ilya was. With no apparent fucking reason in the middle of the season. He just won them two cups, why was this happening?
—
Shane gets traded in the middle of the 2016/2017 season, just before the All-Stars. The Tuna Meltdown never happens and Shane and Ilya amicably decide to stop seeing each other but remain ‘friends’. Both are very ‘happy’ with this decision until Hollander is traded to Boston. Now they must work with each other on the same team while Shane wonders what the hell happened in Montreal to get him traded in the first place. The Boston Raiders learn that Shane Hollander is not a chicken, or a virgin (lol) like everyone believes. And the Metros learn just how important Shane was in winning those cups.
And Cliff Marleau is just trying to figure out why Ilya’s messages to Jane stopped.

Summary
Shane Hollander was considered one of the calmest guys in the league, the least confrontational. He hardly got into fights. If there was an all-out brawl, he would join in to protect his guys, but he wasn’t an instigator, except for the one time he truly tried to fight Scott Hunter. And it was Scott Hunter for godsake. He gave media trained answers and hardly argued with refs. His social media was clean cut with no controversial posts.
But that didn’t mean that Shane didn’t get angry. Wouldn’t defend the people he loved. He knew how to chirp back. He played hockey his whole life and knew how to throw a punch. Maybe he wouldn’t try it against an enforcer or anything, but he could hold his own if he wanted. It’s also not like his husband didn’t spend multiple hours after they got outed making sure that Shane could handle all the extra attention they were about to receive on the ice.
Five times Shane Hollander defended the people he loves, plus one time they defended him.
