Summary
How unfair that in this life and all those that follow, heart and feather won't align. At least there is some comfort to be had that they occupy the same set of scales at all; that for a moment, however infinitesimal, they kiss as lovers do.

Summary
Shi Qingxuan rents a beachside villa where she and her boygirlfriend He Xuan will engage in all the fun flirty and sexy things young couples do when they have an ocean front getaway all to themselves. Shame that the weather (and He Xuan’s proclivities toward being a bit of a wet sack no matter what universe he lives in) have other plans.

An ocean-bound ghost sick with grief and eroded by time mistakes a troubled young woman for his deceased sibling and abducts her. Now captive in an illustrious but cold, sunken manor, Qingxuan must learn everything she can about the dearly departed younger Shi to either convince her captor she is not them, or trick him into thinking his sibling's only desire is to be set free of his gilded cage. But her ventures into the Shi siblings' complicated history act as a knife tearing through the veil separating the mortal realm from the bygone era of gods and ghosts. She will soon discover that Ghost Lord Wudu is not the only liminal creature in desperate search for his younger sibling. -

Shi Qingxuan acts carelessly in the heat of the moment. He Xuan takes it upon herself to clean up the mess.
Or: Shi Qingxuan gets herself hurt and He Xuan acts really, really, really weird about it.

Summary
He keeps Shi Qingxuan at arms’ length. Shi Qingxuan is the only subject to his blunt derision. The only person who could ever get so close. In much the same way, Shi Qingxuan thinks, fiddling with his hem: I’m in control.

Summary
It had started with a prayer.
One of many, floating from the mortals below to the glittering heavens. In the age of reason, so few people prayed. They may give their offerings and pay lip service, but Gods were privy to the truth of their hearts, and many had lost the faith in prayers and in their Gods. Though they reigned, Shi Qingxuan knew all they had was held in a tenuous grasp.
It was so easy to be forgotten. Whenever a prayer reached her ears, Shi Qingxuan was quick to throw herself into work. However, this prayer had led her to something she would have never expected.
To touch down in a field of unchecked growth was already strange in the modern world; stranger still was the verdant vines growing on what was once developed land. The people who had built here had clearly fled the encroaching wilderness. Roping vines covered buildings, and smartly red flowers budded from the ground. When Shi Qingxuan had touched one, its petals had reshaped into the form of a slim, nude woman. A syrupy finger had traced her lips before Ming Yi had pulled her away. Then, she had lifted them into the air on a summoned breeze and deposited them here.

Summary
“Who is this...person?”
“Hm.” She shrugs, knowing there’s no name she can say. It’s not true, her excuse. But it seems that this Heavenly Official is not going away unless she gives an answer. “He is...very powerful. Not friendly, very rarely seen.”
A snort comes from the God, and he turns his head to the three or so other men standing in a grouping. Their smiles look more like sneers, and when his eyes fall on Shi Qingxuan again, she gets the undeniable feeling of being sized up like a piece of meat. “I suppose you’re lying.”
“I’m not lying.”
“Then, who are you taking to the banquet?”
Her mind starts clicking, trying to think of a name. If it weren’t for such a smug, ugly expression on this God’s face, she might admit her fib and move on, but Shi Qingxuan wants to see that wiped away. “Black Water Sinking Ships,” she says.
Behind her, Ming Yi chokes on her rice.
