Summary
Merritt McKinney would not consider himself a bad person, per se.
Being mean sometimes was not the same as being an asshole 24/7; after years of experience testing out what constituted going too far, he walked that line very well. As much as he delighted in making people uncomfortable by revealing information garnered via mentalism to the general public, he knew there were lines, boundaries, and things better not shared.
Case in point: Jack Wilder’s childhood.
It wasn’t that Merritt had been intentionally trying to discern what Jack’s life was like before the Horsemen, but the kid kept dropping hints everywhere. It was impossible for Merritt to not pick up on the pattern.

Or, 5 times one of the Horsemen realized something fucked up about Jack’s childhood, 3 times (interspersed throughout) that they talked about it with each other, + 1 time they talked about it with Jack.

Whoever gets Sam to break his silent treatment and to yell at Bucky first, wins.
Good thing the Thunderbolts are all so competitive. All 5 try and get Sam to break, only one succeeds.
Kind of like a 5+1 but i got carried away at the end...

Jesper was an addict, and he was never supposed to fall for his dealer.
But Kaz was good luck. When Kaz dealt the cards, Jesper always broke even at least; if he sat anywhere else at the Crow Club, he'd land himself in even more debt. He knew he should stop, but he couldn't help himself.
After accidentally telling his father that he's dating a boy who works at the casino, Jesper goes to the dealer himself. “I need you to pretend to date me. I need to pretend that I come to the casino for you and not--”
"Not to gamble yourself into an even bigger pit of debts?" Kaz asked, amused. "What's in it for me?"
"I'll pay you; just put it on my tab," Jesper offered, and he knew that the dealer had every right to say no. Kaz should have said no, and he looked about ready to, but then something nearly imperceptible shifted in his eyes.
"Fine, but I charge interest," Kaz acquiesced. "And if you touch me without permission, I will break your arm."
"Can I--"
"No."
And so he began his ploy, bringing Kaz gifts and taking photos of the dealer for his father. It was all a ruse, a clever cover story for why he was always at the casino. Or at least, that's what he told himself.
