A variable in the equation would save Tony from his monster, the same monster that spanked and abused him since he was a 6-years-old kid. The same monster that has raped him on New Year's Eve when he was barely 12. The same monster that has the face of his godfather, Obadiah Stane.

Summary
Something was not right with Tony, and his MIT roommate Rhodey noticed: after they came back from winter holidays, the 12 y.o. Stark was acting very weirdly. Rhodey knew that Tony has spent New Year's Eve by his 'uncle', Obadiah Stane, but now something was terribly wrong with his friend! Tony was dull and... he was not talking! Not a word!
The right question asked at the right time made the lies around Tony's life to fall down, and the castle of glass surrounding the Stark heir broke in hundreds pieces. Called by his former associate Hank Pym, Howard Stark rushed to MIT with his wife Maria to discover an unbereable truth. And to protect his child, they both had no other choicebut to send him away. But not alone: Jarvis will always remain by Tony's side! Even if that meant re-inventing their lives as Elmonzo and Costanzo Zante, father and son in a small village in the South of Italy.This story is autonomous but it's inspired by the series "A game of chess", and in particular "The golden boy - part 2".

Summary
Howard and Maria Stark were travelling in Eastern Europe for business despite she was already 7-months pregnant. During a journey by train in Bulgaria, a food poison killed both her and the unborn child she was carring.
Devastated by his loss, Howard Stark came back to the USA and he started a slow decline.
Five years later, though, while he was cleaning the master room, Edwin Jarvis found a note from an orphanage in Bulgaria. Without thinking twice, Jarvis grabbed his wife Ana and they both went to Bulgaria to adopt a young kid named Tony.
They didn’t have doubt he was Maria's son: his big brown eyes were his mother’s eyes.
And that was maybe the reason Howard has left him there. -

Ivan si sveglia in infermeria dopo una partita di quidditch. Non è la prima volta nella sua carriera, anzi non è affatto una novità, ma questa volta non ricorda proprio cos'è successo. Non che sia un grosso problema: d'altronde ha Fedyor di fianco a lui e subito dopo nel letto con lui, per cui tutto passa in secondo piano... anche il fatto che Serpeverde abbia perso (di nuovo) la coppa di quidditch e, probabilmente, la coppa delle case!

"Aren't you at all happy to see me?" Howard shot back, holding his glass out and pointing with his index finger. At Steve's stony face, he dropped his arm. "Want a glass?" he tried, picking up an empty tumbler, "This is good stuff."
"Tony doesn't skimp on - well - anything. And no, thank you."
"Was that Tony?" he queried, gesturing toward the hallway the other man had disappeared down. Steve nodded but didn't give any more information, so Howard repeated his earlier question, "Aren't you happy to see me?"
It took Steve a moment to answer. Howard could see his jaw working. "No, not anymore."
OR
In which Howard travels to the future and just messes up everybody's day, Steve is conflicted, and Tony is a piping hot mess, as per usual. It's not going to be easy, but Steve and Tony have to somehow navigate through Howard's arrival and the strain it puts on their relationship.
