A couple of minutes had certainly passed as Lucifer evaluated the options. Then, his voice bordering on a gravely whisper, he asked:
"Who?"
Adam's smile widened. "One of the worst you have to offer, actually. That's the point. If someone as evil and vile as this one can be redeemed then anyone can. The council got the idea from that little shit-show your kid presented a month ago." another distasteful laugh left him, though this one was tainted with resent. "Turns out that trip wasn't for nothing, after all."
Lucifer's patience was growing thin. Through clenched teeth, he repeated "Who?"
Adam opened his mouth and stopped in that position for a moment. "Ah, shit. Lute," he turned towards her. "what was the name?"
Lute straightened up.
"Valentino, sir."

(Realizing there was nothing heaven could do to hamper Charlie's redemption program, they offer up a deal to transfer a sinner from hell into heaven's possession to prove whether redemption is possible. Except, Adam and Lute have far more nefarious reasons for backing up the decision. Reasons that could terminate Charlie's entire project when she finds out what methods they're using to "fix" someone's soul.)

A gazillion years ago, Adam died for the first time, starting an afterlife that consisted mainly of being awesome, pulling bitches, and enacting annual purges of Hell's Sinners. About two days ago, though, he died again and wound up in the second-to-last place he'd ever want to be: Hell. Where all the bad people that didn't deserve Heaven went, the place that was literally a threat to Heaven and all things good in this universe, the domain of his first wife's husband and their loud, musical-loving daughter.
And his only salvation is the actual last place he wants to be: the Hazbin Hotel, bigger and better than other.
Considering he thought his story ended when he was defeated with a surprise attack and also, The Power of Friendship, he can very easily believe his salvation here's just gonna be the actual ending--if that doesn't come with all the other people that want to kill him for his "genocide" and "kinda sucking as a person entirely," or any lingering threat maybe lurking above them.

A few bad decisions later, Via ends up getting in line with The Smiling Dead, working as an employee in the shop while slowly growing closer to Mel, much to her father Ken's annoyance.
Via knows she's in deep, but she'll do anything to stay by Mel's side. Anything at all.
