Summary
The thing about Dumbledore was that he favored telling people what he thought they needed to hear, rather than telling them the plain truth. For example, when he told Harry Potter in second year that only a true Gryffindor could pull Godric's sword out of the Sorting Hat, he was just trying to reassure a student who was uncertain they belonged to their House. He was, however, not only lying, but wrong. A Hogwarts student belongs to *all* the Houses, and many things other than a sword have sprung mysteriously from the Sorting Hat.

Summary
Denarian Saal does not know what to do after being forcibly retired from Nova Corps following his 'recovery' from the Battle of Xandar. The respectable option would be to move on, get a private piloting license, become a navigational consultant--anything other than the option he does take, namely: sulking in his flat, hiding from his therapist and frightening reporters.
But then Peter Quill comes along with a third option, and Saal can't tell if the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' are going to get him killed or if he's going to kill them out of frustration. All else aside, though, Saal is fairly sure that Quill's option is going to be more exciting than the other two.

The one where the Dursleys don't hit Harry or keep him in the cupboard. Where they buy him new glasses each year and make him dress properly in clothes that fit him. Where Aunt Petunia searches high and low for professional styling gel for Harry's unruly hair, to make it behave. Where Harry dutifully puts it on every morning, even though it never works, bc he doesn't want to disappoint Aunt Petunia.
The one where Harry gets excellent grades bc he doesn't want to end up like his no-good parents. Where he always receives just as many presents as Dudley bc he and his cousin are Petunia and Vernon's entire world. Where he never, never breaks the rules.
The one where Petunia tries to civilize the magic out of Harry. Where she tries to bribe it out of him with love. Where the Dursleys treat Harry just fine.
Just fine.
