Will feels the old guilt stirring, ugly and thick. But under it, there’s something else. Because even now, looking at the blood drying on Hannibal’s mouth, at the way he’s still holding Will’s gaze with something so open it aches to see, Will feels that same instinct flare up again. That pull. He’s never been looked at like that before. Not by anyone human, at least.

“Will, you’re not thinking clearly, right now.” She tries to pacify him with a raised hand. His eyes. All that makes Will Graham human and compassionate seems to drain from them. And suddenly he’s laughing. A maniacal kind of laugh.
“I think we could argue that I haven’t been thinking clearly from the moment I set eyes on Hannibal fucking Lecter, Alana. But let me tell you that my thoughts have never been clearer than they are now. Now, let me through.” He hisses. Will notices for the first time that four employees have gathered nearby, held off from tackling him and dragging him out of the hospital only by the grace of Dr. Alana Bloom.
“We’re all right, here, Denise.” Alana reassures the nurse who’s got a syringe in her hand, ready to act if the intruder were to attack Dr. Bloom. She’s seen the man before, he’s been here to visit Dr. Lecter quite a lot recently. Will throws the nurse a look over his shoulder and spots the syringe with a scoff before turning his attention back to Alana.
“Just let me see him. I’m quite certain you don’t think I’m a danger to him.” Will snipes.
“But he is to you.” Alana says, softly.

However he thinks he may have made a mistake in this one.
In other words, Hannibal was so caught up making everyone else believe Will killed Abigail, he didn't think Will would believe it as well. -

A lot has changed, but serial killers are still drawn to the East Coast like moths to a flame and the FBI still flounders in their wake. Summary
After avoiding capture in Baltimore, Hannibal escapes to Europe with Bedelia. However, their relationship is less than ideal, so he's easily swayed by the attention of a man who just so happens to look exactly like the man that broke his heart back in the States.
Waking up after almost dying, Will realizes that he won't be able to move on with his life without seeing Hannibal at least one more time. He has questions that need answers, so he will cross oceans to find the man who left him behind. However, when he finds Hannibal, it seems he's moved on with someone who looks strangely familiar.
(Or, instead of killing Antony, Hannibal starts a fling with him while in Florence in an attempt to move on from Will. It doesn't work, especially when Will suddenly shows up in Italy looking for him. Diverging from Antony's death S3E1.)

Will’s mind railed against the words. His resistance was powerful at first, like the failure of a mighty dam holding back a river, the water pounding down to the valley below. No. Of course not. Hannibal had to pay for what he’d done to Abigail Hobbs. Jack Crawford was his friend and on the right side of the law. The plan to betray Hannibal would go down exactly as they’d plotted together.
But then...
Will opened his mouth to artfully refuse.
Instead, he heard himself say, “Let’s go.”This is a finished, polished version of my DoMAYstic 2023 prompt challenge completed with twitter x threads. I was saving it to publish in May of 2024 with more smut and better writing, and then suddenly I realized IT'S JUNE AND I FORGOT TO POST IT.
So, anyway. If you're looking for a comfort fic, this is pretty damn sweet. And if you've ever lived in the Midwest, well... you get it.

“About that,” Will cut in. The alcohol in his blood burned through him like adrenaline, making his words far braver than he felt. “Who is he?” Hannibal blinked, startled into silence.
“Who is… who, exactly?” he finally asked. Will took another swig from the bottle before setting it sloppily down on the glass table in front of him. The bottle skidded for a moment before coming to a stop mere inches from the edge of the table, its contents splashing merrily against the sides of the container.
Hannibal and Will have been working themselves to the bone on cases in their own professions. When the weekend hits and Hannibal isn't home, Will's worst nightmares seem to be the only thing there to keep him company.
In a sudden rush of drunken honesty, they learn that communication is more easily understood without words.

Hannibal, to his credit, isn't completely bedbound. He won't let himself be. But he is much worse off than Will, and can't do anything as simple as stand for any prolonged length of time, much less join him in the markets, or help around the house. Will doesn't seem to mind. If Hannibal didn't know any better, he'd say he enjoyed having Hannibal at his mercy.
