“Neil knows what I want,” Andrew snaps. This is not Andrew’s fault.
“How do you know?”
Because Neil always knows. He is as fluent in Andrew’s micro-expressions as he is in German and French. He knows which head tilts mean “go on” and which ones mean “shut up.” Without ever asking, he learned what it meant to see Andrew wearing double layers of long sleeves, or taking multiple showers in a day, and learned to hand Andrew the car keys.
That has always been the most terrifying thing about Neil — his patience to wait, watch, listen, learn. The prospect that if Neil were given enough time, there would be no part of Andrew that was just Andrew’s anymore.
“He has to know,” Andrew says.
“Does he?” Renee says. “Have you ever known Neil to assume that he is wanted?”
Five times Neil tells someone that he and Andrew aren’t dating, and one time Andrew uses his words to set the record straight.

It made Jihyun’s heart speed up and his eyelashes flutter and he wanted to stay in that moment forever.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Jaewon said quietly underneath his ear.

Summary
Courage is good, he knows distantly, an admirable trait. It's good that he stood up for himself, that he's trying to fight for what they could have. But as he shivers in a ball on the roof of his dorm building it's hard to feel anything but embarrassed for thinking that he had a chance, that he was worth fighting for at all.
Jaewon breaks Jihyun's heart and leaves. Jihyun sits and thinks about it.

Jihyun feels it in his knees. Inside his chest as his heart concaves and beats quickly. Behind his eyelids as the memories of wide eyes that are quick to stare back are engraved in his mind. At the tips of his fingers that tingle to touch soft skin and leather jackets.
Fortunately for him, Jaewon returns his gaze. Softer than before. The edge of mean and playful wondering in them. Until it glazes and simmers down. Spreading until Jaewon's ears and cheeks are painted lightly in reds and maroons. From Jihyun's stare or the sun. Jihyun hopes its because of him. His heart screams for it.
Through it all Jaewon smiles. And Jihyun feels his knees finally give in.
