He’s never been more glad to be wrong, though; now, he can feel the love spilling over, through his body and out into the world, expanding again and again every time he looks at her, or Nick, at the both of them, together, and thinks about how they have all of the rest of their lives to be a family.

Tara walks over to Darcy, then, putting her hands on their shoulders, and sliding them up until she’s cupping their jaw, thumbs sliding over the skin of their face. Darcy hums at the touch, marvelling that something like this could be happening in the same room where they had once read Sugar Rush, before hiding it under the mattress and closing their eyes, imagining what it would be like to kiss a girl.
Or, Tara comes to Darcy's house for the first time. Darcy has some feelings about it.

Summary
Charlie reads about it obsessively when Nick isn’t here, because of course he does. He’s always been driven to understand things; understanding begets control begets safety. He can’t really find any convincing organic explanation, though, despite his efforts. He’s flirted with time dilation, and dualistic philosophy, and astral projection, and even the concept of entangled quantum states, with its qubits and vector space. None of it sticks though; in truth, the very fact of Nick, now, in his bed, is the most convincing evidence for the existence of a soul that Charlie has ever found.
In which Nick dreams, and Charlie waits.

They’ve been doing this a lot this summer, too: walking around the city in the endless blue twilight, watching the setting sun bruise the sky, talking about nothing and peeking into the windows of houses in nicer areas, debating the décor. They don’t really have the money to do much else, but Charlie can’t think of anything else he’d rather be doing than just existing with Nick.

When Nick first left for Leeds, they would cry every time they saw each other again after time apart, pent up love and frustration at their separation spilling over. They would slam into each other at train and bus stations, kissing tearfully as passing travellers rolled their eyes. Over time, and with practice, this has mellowed out somewhat. Now, all Charlie feels is joy and relief as Nick wraps him in his arms.
