Summary
"But can you take a second and understand why I'm not thrilled to have you? I mean, you obviously were involved in—" She took pause again, gesturing with a spoon down at his leg, "something, to roll in here like that. I don't want to get involved and wind up with a mess on my doorstep."
"We are parsecs away from where that happened," insisted Din. "And even so, they won't be coming for me." There's no one left to, he didn't add.
Why was he here, doing this? There was nothing that she or her father or perhaps even anyone on this rock could do that would force him to stay, and yet, here he was, arguing with a girl about his glaring lack of belonging.
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
Freshly off his run with Malk's debaucherous crew and with a slew of bad decisions at his heels, a young Din Djarin makes an emergency stop on an Outer Rim planet after a job gone awry. There, a small-town doctor shows him a kindness of which he is unworthy, and is forced to slow down, recover, and reflect.
Or: Kuiil’s death was so upsetting that I made a whole ass character to long-game a fix-it fic.

Summary
Megumi looks at him from under the brim of his hat. Keeps his voice mild, pleasant, almost puzzled by himself. “My husband is away so much, for work. It gets lonely.”
A beat.
Yuuji’s eyebrows travel slowly upward.
Megumi holds his gaze, inviting him to catch up. Somewhere in the villa a shutter is seesawing in the breeze, a soft periodic knock. A bee considers the sprawling bougainvillea, decides against it.
He watches the moment his husband clocks it—the thing that passes behind his eyes, quick and bright, followed immediately by the determined repositioning of his features into an approximation of someone else. It is laughable, of course, that this body could ever be a stranger to Megumi.
The skimmer comes to rest against the pool’s edge.
“That so, ma’am?”
