Gül saw this and remembered begging their grandfather as a child to hold it; remembered their vision of it shining in the deep and felt their heart break. They fired the death-god's pistol and their enemy again shimmered with light. Gül reached for the weapon in their chest, looking up at the monster who had destroyed their whole world and the wind seemed to still around the pair, their voice was soft and broken as they uttered the vile language of their enemy.

With no solid plan for the future and the opportunity for a job nearby in the meantime, he agrees. Unfortunately, the transition into this new chapter of his life is complicated by a resident of an apartment down the hall.
Zack's never really considered himself a caretaker either, because really, Rachel does all of the heavy lifting. That's fine by him, since working nights at Gray's bar isn't exactly the best job for raising a kid. Luckily, Ray’s got a few friends in the neighborhood to keep her occupied when he can't, so he can focus all his energy on his work. Until someone new moves in to the building and distracts him at every possible opportunity.
