A myriad of emotion passed over Bensons features, recognition, annoyance, confusion, acceptance, a few others that Randy wouldn't dare to guess at.
“Randy? The fuck are you doing here?” Randy smiled, dipping his head and looking up at Benson through his eyelashes. Something in the pit of his stomach warming at Benson’s voice and Randy’s name being the first thing he said as a free man.Twenty years after the shooting at the diner, Benson is getting out of prison. Randy goes to pick him up.
Deals with somewhat more mellow versions of Benson and Randy after so much time has passed but both still equally co-dependent. -

She can't help but think about Adam trapped down there in the dark. If he's lucky his wound will get infected and he will be dead in a couple of days. If he isn't it would take weeks to die of starvation.

Summary
Randy wondered what the West could hold that was so interesting that Benson wanted to point the nose of the car towards it. Much like he wondered how any of the places they’d visited had been of interest to a man in his thirties who barely knew what the air smelled like ten miles outside of town.
Still, the Randy from last month wasn’t anywhere to be found as the new one, wearing clothes he picked solely for himself and covered in the bruises from the fingertips of a man who was ultimately terrible for him, sat in his stead. Taking up the passenger side of the car with a bolstering new personality and hair shavings digging into the skin of his neck where his t-shirt’s collar lay. Benson shrank under the irritation of this new person, sweating down the sides of his temples and twisting in the driver’s seat as he tried to get away from the size of Randy’s rage.

Randy & Benson continue their journey, leaving Florida behind and heading West. Cresting between love and sheer irritation. The catalytic emotions towards Randy's final pit-stop, someone or something completely different to the young man that was bundled into the car on that last Saturday morning shift.
