Summary
It isn’t the sex that he thinks of constantly. It’s the after, with his soaped hands skimming soft over Max’s trembling thighs, with the kiss to Max’s temple that they both ignored - it was the after that has left Charles with sleepless nights and an aching heart; the idea of more, dreamt of for three days before Charles was painfully reminded of exactly what he was to Max Verstappen. A means to an end.
Charles knows that this isn't healthy, that he needs to deal with his feelings for Max following their hook-up, or he's going to find himself through the barrier at a fatal speed. He finds an unconventional solution in Daniel.

Using the reflection in the mirror above the vanity, he steals occasional glances into the bedroom as he wets the cloth and cleans himself off. Charles is still on his forearms and knees, face buried in his pillow, he doesn’t look like he’s going to be moving any time soon.
Max and Charles have been hooking up for a few months, casually, no string attached — definitely no feelings involved…
The disaster that was Monaco 2021 sees them in Charles’ apartment, with Max having to deal with the fact that Charles can’t get out of his head.

Charles talks to a man who could be the real Max for most of his - hopefully last - F2 season. When Max completely disappears from the app, Charles thinks it's the end.

Summary
Charles feels Max’s silhouette enveloping him now and he thinks how they found each other again, different versions but still destined to bleed asymmetrical colours. How this Max does not let the fire consume him but controls it, lets it loose in strategic maneuvers without sacrificing any of his nuclear grandeur. How Charles himself has learned to traipse the fickle balance between being a commodity and a person, sharing just enough for people to dip their toes into the surface but leaving the depth to himself.
They simultaneously mean so little and so much to each other. It's an oxymoron that Charles traverses in its entirety, takes in his mouth and attempts to chew into something he can swallow without choking.

You can’t open yourself to Charles and try to exist in his charmed life without becoming irrevocably enamoured.
When Max let Charles walk into his motorhome, when he let Charles slip into his existence, Max didn’t know it then but the battle was already lost.
