Summary
Percy is stuck in Gotham for a few weeks with nothing to do.
Meanwhile, the Bats have many, many questions.
Percy constantly says the most out of pocket things. He's a trained fighter. He has no criminal ties, unless you count an accusation of terrorism at age twelve (?!?). He is lowkey terrifying but also has the mellow vibes of a surfer dude. Is he a threat? Oh, for sure. Is he a friend? Somehow, also yes. Is he going to get adopted by Bruce when he discovers this dark-haried light-eyed former child soldier? Not if Percy can help it.

Summary
Percy had, briefly, entertained a fantasy of a triumphant return to Gotham. He’d get a blessing for the Waynes and finally prove he wasn’t fucking crazy, and come home to Jason and get to know Dick and get a chance to try again and, and, and—
And Jason Todd is dead.
Years later, adrift after Tartarus, Percy finds himself pushed back to the city he once called home. All he has to do is keep his head down. This is obviously a flawless plan.

Summary
Every night for the past two weeks, Percy Jackson has had the same exact dream. To most people, that would be an odd happenstance but nothing to write home about. To Percy, who's dreams had always shown him more than most and, more importantly, had almost never repeated themselves, the repetition of this one specific scene was...concerning, to say the least. Every night he woke with the searing heat of a poisoned tree running through his veins, and every night he fell apart just a little bit more.
The more Percy's dreams repeated, the more obvious it became that they wouldn't stop showing him the same thing over and over again until Percy fixed the problem. The problem being the dying tree that had once been Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus.

Percy couldn’t forget what Jason (and his mom, when he had last seen her) had told him about Achilles, who was impressively strong, but prideful, how one rogue arrow in a nonfatal place fell the man...
Percy didn’t want to be like Achilles.
But everyday, whether he was in Gotham, at the lake house, or in camp, he tried to look over war plans, sometimes with Annabeth, who also didn’t believe the other campers’ nonsense about them absolutely crippling the Titan army, and felt nothing but dread. It was looking like the prophecy was going to come true no matter what, and maybe Percy wouldn’t still be here in a week.
