Summary
Caitlyn digs her palm into her eye socket.
She can feel the beginnings of a stress headache coming on. They don’t happen very often - not nearly as often as they used to - but they still rise up on occasion with the sole aim of driving her mad. They always come at the most inopportune time - when she has work to do - and now is no exception.
She has the pictures strewn out all over her office. There’s too many to isolate the mess to her desk, so she’s decided to use the hardwood floor of the Piltover Sheriff's office instead.
Crime scene photos. Over fifty of them.
There’s just….none of it makes sense.

Summary
Today’s been a real mixed bag for Kate Bishop. A little bit of good, and a little bit of bad.
Good: Kate’s back in New York for the week and she got to start her day with a nice greasy New York bacon egg and cheese from her favourite breakfast place.
Good: Kamala found the girl they came here for, who is both way younger than Kate expected and way nicer. Kamala was subsequently able to convince ‘Miss America’ to join their team - Kamala, Kate and Cassie - at the aforementioned breakfast place for a quick chat.
Bad: America asks if they’re related to the New Avengers, and Kate has to tell her that no, they aren’t. They don’t work with them. Don’t even associate with them. Kate then has to ignore the way her heart is beating out of her chest at the mention of that particular team the entire time.
(The Young Avengers go on a recruiting mission to New York, running into the New Avengers and some supervillains along the way)

Summary
Illyana knows this is probably a mistake.
She knows that Kitty wants to be left alone. That she’s ‘done’ with the X-Men, and all those associated with that name. That she doesn’t want to be drawn into anything, not like this.
Illyana doesn’t want to draw her in either. Doesn’t want to put her in Liminal’s line of fire, or any of these other…..forces. She doesn’t want to hurt her, the same way that she doesn’t want to hurt Dani.
Well…not entirely the same way. But that’s something she’s buried deep deep down.
Still, she doesn’t want Kitty to get hurt. Wouldn’t forgive herself if she got Kitty injured or worse. She knows all that, but there’s that even bigger part of her that needs to see her.
(Set immediately after Magik #4 (2025) and some time in Exceptional X-Men before #7, Illyana goes to visit Kitty in Chicago after leaving Dani and Cal in Ecuador)

The reporter keeps talking about something that happened in New York, and Kamala and Cassie are arguing about how it’s not fair that the Avengers name was taken without consulting him - they were totally down to either the Young Avengers or the West Coast Avengers - but Kate doesn’t hear any of that .
She’s focused on the photo being shown on screen beside the pretty news reporter.
It’s a photo of the team standing behind the CIA Director.
Specifically, Kate’s focused on the woman standing slightly in front of the rest of the ‘New Avengers’.

Yavin is….
Yavin is a work in progress. It’s something to adapt to.
Everyone there is so…..idealistic. Eager. Kleya doesn’t know if it's because they haven’t been off this force-foresaken moon in years, or because they’ve never seen real war, but she doesn’t identify many who will have the stomach to do what needs to be done. Even those that she saw earlier - with Andor’s friend - training for what’s to come. She doubts any of them have been on the front lines before.
Andor and his friend notwithstanding. Also Vel, she supposes. Begrudgingly.
(Kleya recovers after the events of Andor Season 2 and adjusts to life on Yavin)

“I’m not….I’m not dignifying that with a response,” Caitlyn rolls her eyes. Vi’s just grinning at her, though, so Caitlyn can’t help but grin back. “And even if that were true, I’ve not heard a no.”

Summary
Korra knows that it’s a problem.
She’s had enough ‘conversations’ (‘lectures’) with Tenzin about how she can’t rush into things. About how she needs to think before she acts, and to not behave too rashly.
She practically has those thoughts in Tenzin’s voice.
It’s just….it’s hard.
She already knew that her feelings for Asami were different from her feelings for Mako. That what she feels for Asami Sato is so much stronger than anything she’s ever felt before, for anyone.

Vi’s not in Piltover when it happens.
She spends most of her days in Zaun. Now that Cait’s back working with the Enforcers - is leading the Enforcers - her schedule is pretty packed, and there’s not a lot of free time to spend with her girlfriend. Not that Cait would say that - she’d never say that - but Vi’s not an idiot. Most of the time.
Vi knows that there’s one way that she could be by Cait’s side. A way that Caitlyn’s brought up a couple times, and is so clearly thinking about every time she comes home from work. Vi can’t do that though.
She just can’t.

In truth, she’s still not sure she should be here. She can feel the murderous holes being glared into the back of her skull as she walks through the broken streets of Zaun. Streets that are mangled and misshapen because of what she did. Streets that are broken because of what Piltover is. Because of what Zaun is.
Streets that she aims to help, even if there’ll never be any love for her down here.
Not that she blames them. Not in the least.
(Caitlyn tackles her first case as Sheriff, and comes across a formidable foe)

She’s wronged people - so so so many people - and before she can feel truly comfortable, she needs to do her penance.

She can’t bring herself to. It’s so….empty.
So quiet.
She and Jet don’t talk, not much. They stay out of each other’s way, and the only words they say to each other are about Red Tail.
In truth, there’s not much to say. They both know what’s happened, and there’s no point in talking about it anymore. Faye’s cried as much as she’s willing, and Jet’s done….whatever it is men like him do. Certainly not talk about it, that’s for sure.
Man probably hasn’t even shed a tear. Typical.

Instead, it’s the bottles - the countless bottles, all empty - the broken mirror and the dark, murky blood staining the already stained floorboards.
Some of the blood stains aren’t uniform either, having little spots where something must have fallen in them. A droplet, of some kind.
Tears, most likely.

Ellie’s honestly shocked that they let her back in.
Though, the more she thinks about it, the more it makes sense that they did. Sure, she’s probably destroyed her relationships with Dina, Tommy and Maria - hopefully not beyond repair - but that’s just three people. The rest of Jackson might have opinions on her based on whatever Dina’s told them, but it’s probably not enough to keep her out of Jackson.
Not that she would blame Dina if she exaggerated either.
She doesn’t tell Tommy or Dina that she’s back, not right away. Maria knows, and they have a long talk at the gate, one that isn’t particularly fun. It’s necessary though, and Maria makes it clear that Ellie’s on her last strike. If she fucks up again, she’s gone, and Ellie completely understands.

It’s the utterance of “My Queen” which drags Rhaenyra back to the real world, sitting where she is on the edge of her bed. “Your guards permit me to enter. I hope I have not caught you at a bad time.”
“Lady Mysaria,” Rhaenyra forces a smile to her face as she looks up, knowing that she must appear to be in quite a state. “Your presence is always welcome. Please, come in.”
She can tell that Mysaria doesn’t quite believe her though, still quite wary. “Your face says otherwise, My Queen.”
