A change in fate seems to bring the two together. After photos of them is leaked to the public the two are given an opportunity. Fake a relationship to give them both good press and fix their public images. It’s not like either one of them will actually fall for the other. Right?

Xiao concludes then and there that the Anemo Archon is an idiot. “I warned you,” he says, utterly unsympathetic.
“That’s true!” Barbatos laughs. He runs a thumb over the bloom, but (thankfully) doesn’t try to eat any more. “I think it’ll grow on me,” he muses, then smiles, as if he’s said something clever.

“... Xiao.”
Or: Xiao is, maybe, a little in love with his Cupid. Venti does not catch on.
