His eyes water from the irritation and he blinks the tears back, clamps down on the threat of a cough spasming at the back of his throat. The second floor landing is full of smoke and warmer than it was before. Mickey has a momentary thought: fuck this apartment. He doesn't care if the whole building burns, if everything goes up in a goddamn inferno, so long as everyone gets out safe and he gets back to Ian.

Summary
While fleeing an abusive relationship with his son Mickey Milkovich is in a car accident that leads to losing his memory.
Ian Gallagher is the responding medic to the car accident and forms a bond with the young boy and takes it upon himself to care for the boy until his father is well again.
Things aren’t always as they seem. And sometimes in protecting yourself and those you love you have to hurt a few people in the process. The truth never stays hidden for long though.
