They've been apart before. Of course, it wasn't like the whole Nameless crew went places together all the time. It should've been routine, while March was honing her swordsmanship they would pursue the questioning posed by the other Xianzhou ships. They said goodbye, earlier this morning, promising to meet for lunch later.
But this, standing before the general giving her that grave news, is when March 7th is rocked to her core.
They've never been apart like this.

Some cosmic force somewhere has got to be laughing at him. Some cosmic force somewhere definitely has it out for him, that's for sure. But the joke's on them, whoever they are, because his name is Apollo Justice, he's fine, and he is not losing anyone else... even if Klavier has already confessed to the murder Apollo can't believe he committed. And why does Mr. Wright keep muttering about this entire scenario being so familiar?

And then along comes a case with a suspicious amount of similarities to a classic novel that a lot of people were required to read in high school, and even more familiar faces.
Yeah, that break's not happening. Good thing Phoenix was planning to distract himself with work anyway! Though there's something about this case in particular that might just make him regret that.

Everyone expected great things from both of them, like the young princess and prince of their respective clans. However, the Kaedehara fell out of favor in the end, Kazuha disappeared from view, and the engagement was undone.
Several years later, and at the height of the Vision Hunt Decree, Ayaka's path suddenly crosses Kazuha's again. Seldom, but not “never”. Kaedehara Kazuha has met Ayaka before. Three times, to be exact. In the darkest nights at sea, when there’s nothing else left to think about, Kazuha remembers the not-so-perfect Kamisato Ayaka of his memories. Regardless of the distance between them, literal or metaphorical, the two were leaves from the same tree, fallen apart in their descent.
Note: Written before 2.6 lore on the Kaedehara clan history. Most things I figured through in-game materials, others, not so much.
