He found loads and loads of notebooks filled to the brim with both Dazai's perfect loopy handwriting and his messy scrawl. It's a duality that only brings tears to Chuuya's eyes as he reads the entries. Chuuya's reading them all, of course - because now that Dazai's gone, these written words are all Chuuya has left.

Aru wishes her ability let her go back in time, back to when she was still living with Kōsuke, Katsumi, Yū, Shinji, and Sakura. She would trade her current ability for another chance at life with them in a heartbeat. It was only two years, but they had felt like a lifetime. It was something she often thought about as she lay on the floor of Dazai Osamu's apartment while she was high on whatever drugs she had procured that day. It wasn't a healthy habit, and she knew Odasaku would've been disappointed in her for it, but he wasn't around anymore was he. And she had a reason for the habit. Drugs were the only thing that could dull the angry screeching that was almost constantly in her head when she was alone. And it wasn't as if Dazai was going to stop her - hell, he probably didn't even notice her addiction since he was always off somewhere in Yokohoma attempting suicide. She wasn't going to bother him more than she needed to, the fact he was letting her stay in his apartment was enough. So she was always alone with her drugs. But she was trying to recover now - whether it was Odasaku’s spirit or the lack of money she had at her disposal, who was to say?

It's been four years since anyone in the music industry has seen Dazai Osamu - four years that have left Nakahara Chuuya both thrilled and angry. Dazai was fading out of the major news - until their duet Double Black makes a startling come back, winning yet another award that not only sets Chuuya over the edge, but brings attention back to the presently missing Dazai. To prevent a disaster, Mori sends Chuuya to a small town recording company to train the next set of musicians to hopefully set Port Records back on top.
What nobody is expecting is for him to run into Dazai - who is living comfortably as an author for the town's small publishing company.
