They moved to start this new life with no strings attached to the damn place. And that guilt stuck with him for most of her pregnancy. Grace had moved to Denver and Billy promised he’d visit as soon as he could. But since day one. Poison was fed to the boy of how much of a dead beat his father was. How much he never left that life in Indiana to be with them. Their son tried to make that connection with his father, sending letters to him, while he moved back to California. Just the responses were never given to his son’s hand. Billy’s husband knew of the boy, eager that one day he could meet him.
Or Billy finally gets to have that life he wanted with his son, Vance finds out the truth of why Billy couldn't come back to his mother.

“Oh, your son was just in here.” She said, pushing away from the counter. Heading over to one of the bins, she leafed through the different white bags before plucking one up. Cynthia hummed, sliding the bag over to him.
“Him and his friend left something behind, I’m sure you can give it to him.” She stated, grabbing the box and sat it next to the medication bag. Neil picked up the box and rolled his tongue in his cheek.

Eddie glanced around, catching a glance of someone who quickly slipped around the corner. He furrowed looking back down to the letter, he unfolded it. Seeing it was written in red ink, it smelled like bourbon and oak.
Eddie’s heart leaped into his throat when his gaze narrowed to a sentence, ‘I would be kind for you.’
There was a crawl of warmth that settled at the back of his neck and tips of his ears. A smile cracking at his lips turning to lean against another locker.
