Return to the sea, before the universe moves against you.
The legends say that the coast of Zhuming is guarded by the merfolk. Many have questioned what was the reason for mysterious disappearances, and only one person alive knows the truth: Yingxing, the craftsman. Only Yingxing dares enter the sea daily and mine the merfolk's greatest treasure: the High Elder's ore. Scanning through the graves, all neatly lined up and cleaned, he kept on searching. There must be someone…

Dan Heng had a peculiar hobby. He cleaned the graves of forgotten, abandoned people, whose eternal resting places stood ruined and desolate, lost to the eons of time.

“Oh, that one’s not up for adoption; he’s too sick. The vet will come by and take him down this afternoon.”
Chris gasped, turning slowly toward the man. He must have heard wrong.“Take... take him down?”
“Yeah. Like I said, he’s too sick. He’ll be dead in a week or two anyway, and we don’t want the others to get infected! Plus, it would be less painful for him, too. It’s really the best option for everyone.” The man said it so casually, like he was talking about the weather and not killing a person.
“I’ll take him. I’ll… I want to adopt this one.” The words jumped out of Chris’s mouth before he knew it.

That's the moment when he falters, losing his balance after taking a knee to the gut, glaring furiously but not struggling when he finds himself pinned. His eyes, up close, are frightfully blue.
"You're smiling," he says.
