Clark sighs and pulls his knees up to rest his chin on them.“I’m sorry, Bruce,” he says then. “I shouldn’t have snapped at you. I swear I’m not mad at you; I just didn’t think. It’s been a long day and —” Clark shuts his mouth closed with a clack of his teeth, empty excuses piling up in his mouth. He swallows before trying again. “You know what, it doesn’t matter. I shouldn’t have raised my voice at you, no matter what. There’s no excuse. I’m so sorry.”

“Do you want me to read you a bedtime story?” Clark jokes as he sits on the edge of the bed. Bruce is occupying his spot and he’s not stupid enough to just switch their sides. Bruce will most likely throw a fit if he tries.It’s another one of those things Clark will probably never really understand. Bruce needs to sleep on the left side of the bed, but when Clark isn’t there, he automatically rolls onto the right side, as if he’s looking for Clark. If Clark tries to then settle on the left side, Bruce will shove him off the bed. It’s more than a little confusing. He knows now though, so he simply sits on the edge of the right side, waiting for Bruce to scooch over.

Jim tuned out his rant slightly, examining the small bats on Wayne’s boxers. Ignoring the fact that no underwear was meant to be worn that tight, the tiny decorations were almost…familiar.
