Jordie tilts his head, laughs boisterously, but there is no sound. Kaz cannot remember his brother’s laugh. He cannot remember his voice. The details are wrong because Kaz does not know enough to correct them. It is the same mistake every night.
“No, it’s not,” Jordie corrects. He uses Kaz’s captured pawn to wave to the poppies. “Look at the flowers, Kaz.”

Unthinking, Caspian says, “Let me show you.”
And when Peter asks, “How?” he holds out his hand.
To his unending surprise, Peter takes it.

“It must have been incredible,” Caspian says, tearing his eyes from the horizon to glance over at Peter, who still watches the tide come in below the crumbled edge of the terrace. “Your Narnia.”
“It was,” replies Peter, one nail tracing the grooves of the lion-pommel’s mane. He sounds wistful and melancholic and mournful all at once. “Trumpkin told us they’re calling it the Golden Age now, when we ruled. But back then it was just Narnia. I wish— well. I suppose I wish you could have seen it. I think you would have liked it.”
And Caspian, watching the sunlight dapple Peter Pevensie’s cheekbones, the sea breeze ruffling his hair—Caspian, gazing at a King who stepped right out of the stories his professor used to tell him, out of the Golden Age of Narnia itself; High King Peter the Magnificent, who came when Caspian called—thinks that what he’s seeing right now is more than enough.
(or, the kings and queens of old are not quite what caspian expected, high king peter most of all. apparently the feeling is mutual.)

The door rips backwards, thrown to the floor by the same man Q had been in the ski lift with, who smiles menacingly and draws a knife from his jacket. The Quartermaster wonders how long it will take for James to realise he’s missing.
Before the henchman even gets in his first hit, Q knows it’ll be too late.

His Ma used to cut it for him, but since she died, she doesn’t.

"For as difficult as Poe might be, Edgar is very easy to live with. They had the whole bed-selection thing when they first arrived, but they’re getting along just fine. Edgar is tidy and quiet and doesn’t stay up late the way Kevin does, mostly keeping to himself and reading from his book with the tiny text. He doesn’t bother Monty when he gets quiet and sullen, instead leaving the room with Poe so that the bird doesn’t make him more upset. And, more than that, he isn’t at all scared of Monty, even though he’ll become a bloodthirsty werewolf twice a month."
Or, everyone almost notices that there's something wrong with how Poe treats Edgar. Almost.
