“Kiss me.”
Robin balked at that, mouth gaping and a laugh tearing from her chest almost maniacally. But Nancy remained steadfast. She made her sincerity quite clear as she set the bottle to the side and climbed forward so she sat upright, on bent knees and beckoning for Robin to do the same. Robin was never one to disobey Nancy Wheeler, and she dare not start now.
Mirroring Nancy, Robin leaned forward before she lost her nerve entirely. Gentle, soft, and quick, with the faintest smack of lips as she pulled back. Nancy’s eyes dragged open, and the corner of her mouth quirked upwards.
“What are we, twelve?” Nancy goaded her. “I said show me, Buckley.”

Summary

The first time Nancy holds a gun, she feels good. Tough. Like Leia halfway through the first movie, when she's still shooting and quipping and shoving around guys twice her size. Before the last scene when she’s smiling prettily at those same guys and handing out medals and Ten-Year-Old Nancy is realizing, with a sinking sensation in her gut, that nobody’s gonna say anything about Alderaan.

It was New Years Eve and Vecna was dead and gone and Joyce Byers was hosting a party at the house she and Chief Hopper had picked up on a the-whole-town-was-almost-swallowed-into-hell discount, and Robin finally understood Nancy's hair.
Robin had gotten there late. Not late-late, not midnight late. But she and Steve had worked a closing shift and headed over after, and it was ten o'clock and everybody old enough to drink was already looking a little loose. And apparently Nancy was among those old enough to drink, and apparently so was Robin, because she found herself with a beer in her hand before she'd even gotten her coat all the way off. And she took a big sip of it without even thinking, because she saw Nancy's hair before she saw the rest of her, and then she saw the rest of her, and then she finished her beer in one more sip.

In the room she wondered if she was ever going to kiss a girl in. If she could ever be anyone outside of the system she created for herself and the world. The everlasting fear of being alone once rooted in these walls was nothing that Nancy Wheeler couldn't tear down and scare away.
The girl who's home was officially done with her girlhood. Who was hiding from her father because his continued suspense in belief in who she could become was too much for the beauty of summertime. His heaviness was nothing against the crinkles in Robin’s smile and her blooming freckles and clumsy kisses.
They'd found each other. They could be blissful, childish, and happy. They couldn't ask for anything purer than that.
