Summary
"Sure, maybe Joel was hyperaware, maybe he catastrophized too much, but he wasn’t one for introspection. He saw a problem, he fixed a problem, he kept Sarah happy. That’s all he had to do. Therapy was for rich people with too much time on their hands or people in touch with their feelings like Sarah if she ever wanted to go.
Then his birthday happened and Joel didn’t care about brain chemistry or therapy or self care. All Joel wanted was to die."
OR: Joel's journey with his anxiety. It serves him well when out on the road, but boils over when he and Ellie are safe in Jackson.

Summary
Joel and Ellie watch in silent awe as a child chases a hoop down the street with a stick like they were living in the 17th century, not just a facsimile of an old pioneer town.
“Is that what they did back in your day, old man?” Ellie asks.
“Oh yeah. Me and Tommy. Best Hoop Rolling champions of ‘85.” Joel’s voice is as dry as a desert. “It was Sarah’s favorite sport after soccer.”
Ellie hums thoughtfully. “I prefer Street Fighter.”
Or: Ellie and Joel as a duo comedy act try on hobbies as their lives calm down and they get to live instead of survive.

Summary
Joel reevaluates concepts long ingrained in his ideas about the world. Maybe plans for old age didn’t mean living alone, waiting for the occasional family visit before going back to solitude. Maybe he could be selfish, and ask Ellie to stay.

Summary
An influential member of Jackson just brought in a lone survivor who speaks of their holy prophet: David, cruelly slain. The survivor seeks to resurrect David’s holy message, right here in Jackson.
Ellie never told Joel what happened at Silver Lake. Now that they’re settled in Jackson, Joel tries to be fine with that. He’d do anything to keep her safe, but when Tommy brings him news of a survivor stirring up trouble, truths are brought to light to prevent further bloodshed.
Tommy has no clue what’s going on and really wishes his brother would stop threatening to murder people.

Watching the Last of Us With My Best Friend - by Depeche Mode by joschmo

Summary
Ellie and Joel are less than a day out from Jackson, emotional wounds still raw, when Tommy rides out after them them. Maria found DVD's in Jackson, DVD's that can't be explained that will provide insight, change the course of the future, and cause multiple uncomfortable situations for everyone involved, now all they've got to do is get through watching them.
A "characters watch the show" story for the cast of the Last of Us, mostly to provide gratuitous emotional reactions to every scene and to create a "fix it" of sorts to the ending.

Summary
It’s a novelty to work on an art project that Ellie doesn’t have to quickly fold away before it’s ripped up by someone like Bethany. There’s paint in Jackson, and walls and canvases, and more free time than she knows what to do with.
Or: Ellie paints her heroes and villains. Joel gets rare insight into Ellie’s mind.

Bush’s No Child Left Behind Taught by FEDRA? It’s More Likely Than You Think by joschmo

Summary
Joel could admit to himself that he hadn’t put much thought into the actual quality of the education Ellie would be receiving in Jackson.
A parent-teacher conference leads to discussions and understanding.
FEDRA schools were a mix of “No Child Left Behind” Bush legislation and military training. Everyone has mixed feelings about that, especially Ellie.
Spoilers for Lord of the Flies if anyone missed it in English class.

Summary
Ellie had worked hospice rotation in FEDRA school. All the orphans had to. It was a shit job, literally: changing adult cloth diapers and sponging down injured who were either too sick or old to care for themselves.
Fedra couldn’t pay civilians enough to see the ugly end of life that they had coming for them, like staring down the barrel of a gun. Instead the orphans did the heavy lifting, looking down at the elderly and injured like strange artifacts from a time when society had the resources to take care of people who didn’t contribute.
She never thought any of it would come in handy, until Joel’s lying on a bare mattress in an abandoned house and he won’t be moving under his own power for days on end.

TLOU Ideas and Incomplete Chapters by joschmo

Summary
TLOU ideas and outlines I had a lot of fun making but don't have the desire to devote a novel-length book's worth of writing to. Each chapter is an individual idea along with any work I did on it before realizing I wouldn't write a full-length version.

Summary
The Great War brought Jopson and Crozier together as brothers in arms, only to separate them. After a chance meeting years later, the two build something new together, closer than even the bonds of service.
With Crozier missing his hand from the war, and Jopson feeling the desperation of unemployment in the Great Slump, will the two feel worthy of each other or will their quiet love remain hidden?
(this is rated explicit, so obviously things will not remain hidden)

Summary
“To put it bluntly, gentlemen, for the next few weeks I’m going to be unfit for polite company. I’ve been going around for years with a sedative in my system, and now that it’s drained my body is…extremely sensitive to any sort of provocation." Francis rubbed his hands on his trouser leg, trying not to think about how good it felt. "It seems I’m to act like a boy first discovering what his prick can do again.”
Lead-free living and no alcohol means Francis' libido is through the roof as his body adjusts to life back in England. Luckily he has his good friends and crewmates Jopson and Fitzjames to see him through this hardship. Not that either of them would ever want someone as old and weary as Francis, although both of them have been acting oddly since Francis informed them of his condition...
Crozier's BDE is too powerful and Jopson and James conspire on how to Get Some from their oblivious Captain - the fic.
