“I think,” Robby started as he leaned over the central desk where Jack was trying to chart- trying being the operative word because it seemed like every time he was in the flow, or right about to finish one of his many backlogged charts, a med student or resident would come over with their big earnest eyes and plaintive voices to ask him for help- “that we should go out sometime.”
“Is that so?” Jack drawled as he scrawled another quick note down before turning the page to mark down a test he’d forgotten to tick the box for.
“Mmhm,” Robby hummed and then ducked in close, his eyes all soft and gooey and dark when Jack flicked his eyes over to see Robby looking at him through his lashes before looking back to his paperwork. “A date.” Jack paused in where he’d been writing though he didn’t let himself look away from the chart in front of him just yet. “Our first one.” As if Jack didn’t know that.Series

The IED took Jack's leg. But it gave him damaged lungs, a brain injury and tinnitus. It's something he knows a romantic partner needs to know about, he's just not sure how to talk about it. How to explain to Robby exactly how it affects him from day to day.
In the end, his body forces the issue.
