In the midst of discovering firsthand the effects of the climate crisis, estranged sisters also choose to try to go back to the way things between them used to be.
This fic basically has two different main storylines: the sisterly reunion thing between Tuvalu and Kiribati, and the whole climate change thing.

Foolishly, she looks back, the world obscured and blurry through the furious tears clinging to her eyelashes. She is all too aware of what she must look like, crouched over the ocean like a sea monster, her face wet, her hands wet, a cigarette lying in the sand beside her.
The person approaches still. Micronesia makes out a halo of white frangipani blossoms, inquisitive amber eyes, a trail of smoke rising from dry lips.
"Nauru," she greets shakily.
