"She’s so busy trying to cram everything into her sports bag to wash later that she doesn’t even notice Taissa standing above her until she looks up after zipping everything up, nearly falling backwards on her ass from being startled so bad.
Taissa’s looking down at her, arms crossed over her chest and a nearly stoic expression on her face. There’s the barest uptick in the corner of her mouth from when Van had fallen over, but when she meets the other girls eyes there’s not so much of a trace of warmth there. Only the cool, appraising stare that’s had her sweating bullets since she saw it all those weeks ago.
Van clutches her chest, trying to get her breathing back under control. Taissa at least waits until she’s gotten ahold of herself (as much as she can, anyway) before she speaks up.
“So, what’s your damage?" she asks."

Summary
Van starts wearing her brother's old shirts. On days that she knows she won't be changing in front of anyone, she sometimes also wears his boxer-briefs underneath her jeans. Somehow, this almost feels better than the shirts, like her underwear is some kind of secret armor that no one knows about but her. If Van were to think too hard about it, it might seem a little silly. But she doesn't think too hard about it.

“I’m sure the ladies go crazy for those arms of yours,” Taissa said, voice sugar-sweet, her brown eyes glimmering with appraisal as they tracked over her form. They lingered on her biceps, making Van feel a little hot under the collar. So, Tai most definitely liked girls.
“Buy me dinner first,” Van replied, leaning forward on her arms as she met Taissa with what she hoped was a flirty smile, letting the new surge of confidence wash over her. Meanwhile, her heart was running circles in her chest.
Tai didn’t pull away. “Not a dinner,” she said, fingers tapping on the marble, “but my friends are having a party next Friday to celebrate the end of midterms. You should come.”
