By now, there's few lines Adam Karadec wouldn't cross to keep Morgan Gillory safe. If someone threatened her? He'd make them regret it. If someone hurt her? He wouldn't stop until they'd been brought to justice. If something worse happened... Well, he'd put all his energy into making sure her kids would be okay, and hopefully that'd be enough of a distraction to keep him from taking matters into his own hands. He knows Morgan would do the same for him. It’s just how they roll.
Ergo: if they're practically joined at the hip, each other's ride-or-dies, and Morgan's already (jokingly, he hopes) threatened to "deal with" several people on his behalf- then surely helping her now, when she's looking at him like he's water and she's been wandering Death Valley for far too long, isn't going to be crossing the line.
He'd do anything for her, if she asked him. That's just what good partners do.
...Right?

The team rotates partners. Morales jokes that Bex only wins by playing dirty; Hassani bets she can’t keep Shane down for ten seconds. Shane smirks, “I wouldn’t mind.” Bex proves them wrong. Later that night, Shane gets even—and she lets him.

He doesn't expect what comes next. He doesn't expect to see him in the darkened hallway that evening. He doesn't expect himself to willingly follow Hangman into the darkness of his room, lock sliding shut as soon as they enter.
It only takes one hit to become addicted.
And he doesn't know what to do about it.
