He didn’t know much but he did understand there was a strain between Dennis and his family. He gathered they didn’t approve of him being a doctor and being away. But Dennis didn’t speak much of them, even now, only a couple miles out from the farmhouse he grew up in. Even now, after they drove nearly twenty hours straight, with nothing but air and bad music between them.

Dennis’s dad is sick. Robby is on a two week leave for what his therapist calls a “mental health emergency.” Robby can’t be alone and Dennis doesn’t have gas money. They drive to Nebraska together.

This whole thing felt like a big joke. Because it was. Clark heard Lois and Jimmy and Steve giggle as he dragged his feet out the door. He was tasked with the impossible but if he failed, his job was jeopardized. Or at least, that’s what Perry told him in a very stern voice that afternoon. How was he supposed to interview the guy whose whole thing is no one knows who he is or where he comes from or where he disappears to.

Summary
Clark doesn’t usually get nervous on dates. Not that he’s been on many enough to know what counts as something that should make him nervous, but he at the very least knows what to expect from your typical date night. Dinner at a fancy restaurant or watching romcoms at the theatre, simple things like that.
But when Bruce calls him one night to ask if he’s ever ridden on a motorbike before, the Man of Steel finds himself lowkey shitting his pants at the idea.

Bruce visits Metropolis to take Clark out on a ride on his bike. Rooftop picnics and emotional conversations ensue.
