“I—yeah, I’m married.”
“You don’t think that’s something I need to know?”

“Who?”
“I think we should let your memory answer that for you.”
“Buck.”
“Eddie.”
Eddie rolls his eyes, “Just tell me.”
“You need to try and remember things on your own.”
“And I will, later. Just tell me who you’re married to. You must really love them if you decided to get married in the span of a year.”
“I do love him.” Buck smiles, and it warms Eddie’s heart. Only for a little while because he remembers that Buck’s smile isn’t because of him.
Or
Eddie wakes up in the hospital and is told he’s missing a year of his life. All Eddie knows is that he sees a ring on Buck’s finger and he won’t tell him who he’s married to.

“Oh no,” she breathes. “Oh, honey.”
“Yeah, it was… I mean, I don’t want to get into it.” He absolutely wants to get into it. “But basically, Theo— my little brother, number seven, the one who keeps—”
A whistle blows. Theo’s committed another foul. This one might actually be assault — Chris isn’t a legal expert but Theo basically used that kid as a speed bump.
“—doing that. So, Theo wasn’t planned. And when my dad, the blonde one, told my other dad, it was like…” Chris exhales wearily, having seen too much. “They were struggling. Communication issues. You know how it is.”
Sun Hat Lady nods gravely. She knows how it is.

“Went to the fridge to get the eggs…” Eddie walks in that direction, and Buck follows his gaze. His eyes land on the calendar, and he stills.
“And I saw this on the calendar.” He flicks it twice. “Kind of hard to miss it.”

Eddie Diaz was a very secretive person, the rest of the 118 knew it from the moment they met him. He was reluctant to tell them anything about his personal life, with the slight leeway he allowed with his son.
Obviously, they had attempted to dig for more information at first, but after almost 2 years of vague responses, they had given up. They resolved that they would never receive a full debrief on the life of Eddie Diaz.
That is, until a call goes bad and suddenly Bobby has to call the husband nobody knew he had to come visit him in hospital.
There were a lot more questions to answer than before.
