The world was ending. That, at least, was obvious. News stations from everywhere in the world were blasting about it. It’s all you’d hear about anymore. None of that was needed, however. The maroon skies and ever approaching supernova explosion was enough evidence for anyone.

Summary
“Pretty, aren’t they?” An airy voice, distinctly feminine, called. Jules yelped. The voice laughed, a sound that can only be described by the tinkling of bells and twinkling of stars.
“Behind you!” It called out again. Jules spun around, met with air.
“Over here!” Jules spun to the side, curly brown hair flying to the side. This time she saw it. A figure, shorter than her own, standing in… in a mushroom circle. It had wavy, orange hair (just like the sunset), what it wore… human words cannot describe. Fabrics obviously not of human nature, too perfect for any human hand to have created, seemingly as soft as a cloud, so extravagant Jules worried staring at it too long would ruin it. Its dress encrusted with minerals not of this world. On top of its sunset hair, an intricate crown sat perched, calling out its importance to anyone one of witness. Amused, warm amber brown stared back into widened cold, frozen ice blue. This thing was most definitely not human.
“Here I am.” The Fae spoke, a sly smile on its too-perfect face.

Summary
He turned back to the man who seemed so at ease amidst the sea of crows, whose warm smile had yet to dim, and whose eyes were intensely focused on Tommy.
“Who the fuck are you?” Tommy asked, his voice slicing through the silence. The man cocked his head to the side, mirroring the crow which had been watching Tommy moments ago.
“Oh, how inconsiderate of me. You can call me Phil,” he announced, his voice smooth and warm. Tommy didn’t trust it. Something about Phil unsettled him. “And you?”
With an almost nonchalant air, Phil reached into what appeared to be a worn leather pouch, pulling out a cup filled with hot, steaming liquid. After placing the cup on the table, Phil repeated the action, producing two plates stacked with sandwiches. He slid one to Tommy, who was watching the casual display of magic with wide eyes.
“I... um, Tommy,” he managed to utter.
Phil’s smile widened, but a predatory glint in his eyes turned his friendly grin into something sharper, more cunning. “Tommy...” He practically purred the name, a note of possessiveness creeping into his tone.

Or: Tommy, upon death, gets resurrected on another world in the Antarctic Empire, and Phil yoinks himself a free son.
