When Robby ambled in a little early for his shift, central was a hive of activity, Walsh calling back to Jack as she accompanied a gurney out of Trauma 2: "Learn from the master, soldier boy."
"When you find one, be sure to let me know, princess," he shot right back, but the note of fondness in his tone made Robby freeze. That wasn't their usual back-and-forth. That held warmth to it. An undercurrent of knowing. A joke shared between two people who'd seen each other naked. More than once.
Robby clocked Jack watching Walsh go—what the fuck—and then he went back into Trauma 2, debriefing with the team. It was the tiniest moment, nothing—
And yet Robby's whole understanding had just realigned. Jack and Walsh. What the fuck.

He’s a man. He’s a stupid, stupid man who can not stop thinking about Dr. Heather Collins.
He brings it up, indirectly, with the therapist Jack quietly recommended after Pittfest. After the roof started looking a little too tempting. The therapist asks one question (“Are you sure this isn’t about Jake?”) and that’s enough to shove the baby thing into the mental junk drawer for a while.

“You know what it reminds me of? Going home to Indiana for Christmas. Of course, I used to go back to a big rambling farmhouse, so it’s not exactly the same, but … The feel of it. The wide, open, snow-covered landscape. The sense that you’ve managed to step out of the 24th century into a quieter, simpler time. And it’s the right time of year, too. Christmas is coming up in a few days.”
She allows her head to drop back and a quiet laugh escapes her lips.
“All I really need to feel completely festive is a cup of mulled wine and a good ghost story.”
