“Jon,” Jon says, his mouth answering for him. It feels like the line between his brain and his mouth has been cut, his thoughts replaced by a buzzing, fuzzy dial tone. He's not thinking at all, his mouth is just moving and he's answering. He can feel their eyes on him, pinning him in place. “My name is Jonathan Sims."Happy New Year! Summary
In the light of his desk lamp, Martin can see the fine sheen of sweat clinging to his forehead and neck. “Sorry,” Jon apologizes, though he seems like he’s not sure what even he’s apologizing for. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” His fingers tremble lightly as he sips from his mug. That’s progress, at least. Jon doesn’t fight him anymore when Martin makes him tea, doesn’t force Martin into puppeteering him into drinking it — perhaps he’s finally accepted that it’s just tea, and not poison or spiders or...whatever he thought it was. Jon is a very paranoid man. Martin’s never found Beholding’s type to be particularly rational.
It’s almost endearing, when Jon acts like he has no idea what’s happening to him.
Martin reaches over and eases the mug from his hands to keep him from spilling it. “You’re hungry, Jon,” he says helpfully. “You need to eat.”It is simply in the Web's best interest that the Archivist remains well fed.

“And?” Jon says. “Not to sound insensitive, but,” he gestures around them to the whole of the rundown room, “we aren’t exactly in the best of neighborhoods.”
“The point,” Tim retorts, “is that all of them had recently purchased a taxidermied animal. All from that shop.” He leans back onto his heels, pushing his hands into his knees. “I’ve been staking out the place for two days now, and it— well. Just.”
“Just what?”
“Just watch.”Jon, Martin, and Tim investigate a taxidermy shop. It only gets worse from there.

His mother cried and his father had explained: The Weasleys had their hair, the Gaunts had their madness and the Scamanders had their changelings. Not every generation, but peppered through their line were those who weren't quite human. Some never spoke, others would talk at length about one thing but refuse the rest of the world. Some would only eat one meal. No one knew how this new Newt would behave, what he would become. Theseus didn't care. Newt was still his brother.

For a prompt on the km:
In nature, bright coloring is generally a warning to predators to keep away. Unfortunately most wizards are not students of nature, and don't understand what the bright blue jacket of one Newt Scamander might mean.
The idea being Newt, as a student of nature, is aware of the rule of thumb about how brightly colored creatures are often poisonous, and it acts as a warning to predators, and so takes on the habit himself? Or it's unintentional.
*Could be specific to Grindelwald not knowing he should back off or get his arse handed to him by the seemingly benign Newt, or it could be a 5+1 of wizards who should have paid attention to what bright coloring usually means.
