Summary
Aang is in pain and Katara scrambles to desperately heal him from whatever had caused him suffering. But Katara soon came to learn that not all wounds and scars could be healed and that sometimes, all one needs is an ear to listen.
In which, Aang still suffers from the guilt and shame after having abandoned his duties as the Avatar resulting in the Airnomad genocide and his friends, remind him that he isn't alone, not in this fight.
Takes place in Book 3, in between Chapters 13: The Firebending Masters and Chapter 14-15: The Boiling Rock

Toph smirks at a detail unshared. “Just a primer because I know you’re prissy: it’s kinda dingey, but I think it’s charming. Just give it some time for the atmosphere to sink in. It’ll be great.”
In the midst of it, Katara closes her eyes and pictures herself. In this dream, she is self-assured and confident. Stronger. She pictures the bar women with cropped hair and leather boots. Then the dancers, traversing between feminine and masculine, their plumes, their sparkle.
She imagines Aang, comfortable in his body. She imagines him proud.

Summary
The thought occurs to her randomly, while she’s at work. She’s assisting a young woman who had just been in a car accident— a teenager, really— with her pregnancy. Katara has her sitting on an examination table, her round belly exposed, water-covered fingers hovering above her skin. There’s a small mass, a heartbeat and a whorl of chi that she can feel, pressing back against her. Katara describes the entire process, and the girl smiles at her uncertainly throughout, a look of wonderment on her face. “And to think,” she whispers. “In the beginning, I’d been praying to get my period. Now, I feel so relieved.”
The distant part of her that can still feel wants to commiserate. She wants to laugh, pat her shoulder, and say, “A baby can change everything, huh? Isn’t life so ironic?”
And then it hits her, like a bolt of lightning down her spine— I can’t remember the last time I had mine.
