PIDW AU: in which Liu Qingge doesn't die but his health does take a hit, Luo Binghe's actions are questionable at best, and things get worse before they get better. After all, you need to admit you're hurt in order to heal.

The words are distant, muted through the veil of sleep. But Hob is nothing if not persistent. He wishes to burn each detail into his skin, so it might return to him come morning.

He soothes the bite-mark with his tongue and smudges its color up to the inside of an equally-still elbow. It feels like tainting a piece of art. It feels like pacifying a wild animal.

Binghe's mind sputters out into blank noise. He didn't expect an easy agreement, but Liu Qingge looks at him, and keeps looking at him. Silent, unwavering, certain.

"Binghe," Mingyan's eyes fix on his, inclining her head in greeting, "I was wondering where you've been."
Her voice rings pleasant as ever, but with an underlying cut-throat edge of ice. Luo Binghe smiles back to the best of his ability. There is no way she can't tell it's fake.

Liu Qingge breathes in, counting the seconds. Precise. Controlled. Then releases all of the air trapped inside his lungs in one fell whoosh.
"This won't do."
(A canon divergence of the original PIDW where, instead of going into the caves behind Qiong Ding Peak himself to cultivate, Shen Qingqiu sends Luo Binghe there under the guise of training. Which should have been a great opportunity for him! Really! Unfortunately, Liu Qingge still goes into qi deviation nearby.)
