“What have you done!?” thundered a voice Wei Wuxian had, frankly speaking, never wanted to hear again.
“Old man Lan?” Wei Wuxian blurted out, staring at the aged face of his former teacher.At the back of his mind, Wei Wuxian remembered the cut of his robes, that he wasn’t dressed like a widow at all, but like a Lan.
Lan Qiren looked around, his gaze stuck somewhere above Wei Wuxian’s head, most likely the half-ruined summoning array behind him – fucking stupid, Wei Wuxian should’ve gotten rid of it immediately. Just why did it have to be a Lan summoning him, why Lan Qiren his visitor at the door? Wasn’t death enough punishment?
“Wei Wuxian?” Lan Qiren asked wearily.
Or, Wei Wuxian is summoned back to life in the Cloud Recesses. Unfortunately, the person to find him is Lan Qiren, forcing the unlikely duo to work together to keep the circumstances Wei Wuxian's return undiscovered.

Wei Wuxian was not prepared for the cluster fuck of a situation his fellow ICW member had so kindly dumped in his lap but he was even less prepared for a dementor attack while retrieving the erstwhile Harry Potter. Harry is just glad to be away from the Dursleys and with an adult that was finally listening to him for once even if his world view was shaken up in the process.

Wei Ying's stomach dropped to his toes. The feeling coursing through him was sickeningly familiar. In the Burial Mounds, he fought tooth and nail to keep the spirits out of his head. Whenever they'd get too close, his skin crawled, and it felt like he were a puppet being pulled along by strings. Now, a lighter, less malicious energy prodded him; it was gentle but not merciful. It reached its hand down his throat and stole words from his lips before he could think to stop it.

Wei Ying cries out as he’s thrown to the ground like a ragdoll. His head smacks on the rocks, and static colour swarms his blurry, darkening vision. He arches for the breath that was punched out of him, but a weighty claw settles on his chest, slamming him back down, and he heaves short gasps as he’s crushed, trying and failing to push the beast off. It’s like striking a wall.
And then, pain. Pain, nothing like it.
Teeth sink into his arm, and he screams as he feels his tattered bones, shattered, unhealed from the fall , grind together like gravel.

I ugly cried. It was so good..!!
The concept is heartbreaking, obviously, but I feel that it parallels WangXian canon storyline quite nicely. When they are young, WWX is the one reaching out, until he just can’t anymore, and after resurrection LWJ does.
It honestly falls nicely into my headcanon that WWX is not that oblivious, but just doesn’t believe people choose him for himself. So tragically LWJ being emotionally constipated just affirms WWX in that understanding. Why would he read affection as affection if it’s clearly communicated to him he’s unwanted.Circling back to the fic, it’s that heandcanon just with more verbal communication and less denial on WWX’s part. He’s not just pulling the metaphorical pigtails, he’s saying he’s in love. Oh, even thinking about this hurts again. But they do get to love each other at the end and that’s great.
I need some fucking tissues. Again.

Summary

Summary
One of the fragments of Wei Wuxian's soul, splintered during the first siege of the Burial Mounds, uses the energy released by the Yin Tiger Tally and flees backwards through time to another moment where Wei Wuxian was close to death – after the fall of Lotus Pier, at the hands of Jiang Wanyin.
Knowing how his first life will end, Wei Wuxian decides to hide his survival, and leave the cultivation world behind.
(UPDATED to add a bonus chapter from LQR's point of view as he learns that he will be gaining WWX as a nephew-in-law. And the Lan sect gets an accessibility revolution!)
