But what if… what lurked in the shadows never vanished as mankind thought. Those dark entities that could not be explained did not fade from existence, but join them in this new reality. Hiding in plain sight among them, the very creatures mankind once despised, hated, ran from, hunted. Now sat beside them on the bus, in lecture halls, in movie theatres. Free to stalk and hunt as they pleased because… after all, creatures of the night didn’t exist.
Edelgard had reluctantly agreed to help being sent her way, a bodyguard that existed in the light yet trained in the darkness. A human with knowledge of the monsters that hide in plain sight, not just knowledge, but trained to fight them, hunt them, guard them and talk to them. It was quite peculiar. A vampire with a human bodyguard… yet it did intrigue her, she looked down at the name attached to the file. Byleth Eisner.

Still, she wasn’t immune to loneliness, and so she went out from time to time to be around others.
She couldn’t have imagined what she would get into when she met Byleth Eisner, a woman with a ridiculous coat studying to be a teacher of history. History, and the folklore of Nabatea, its goddess, and the wolves she loved most dearly.
(A Wolf Children inspired AU where nobody dies.)

Life and death. A cyle Byleth cannot escape no matter how many times she rewound the clock. She's tried twice before to stop the war of Fódlan, and yet, the results are always the same. The emperor dies and the ruse of peace rises across the land. Yet the people still suffer. Once again, Byleth is forced to go back and relive the horrid war, but she's sick of the death and destruction it brings. She's steeled herself to prevent such pain, no matter the cost--even if it means allying herself with the monster who would start such a war.
Revision of my original Hands Stained Crimson fic. I'm not completely satisfied with the original result, and as such, I've decided to come back and rewrite all the chapters, both adding and removing quite a bit of content while also straying more away from the original game dialogue.
