Daisuke wears hunger like a second skin.
It’s the way he holds his breath when Haru leans into his personal space with gentle touches, the entire set of his body rigid as stone, lips parted; it’s how Daisuke’s fingers, marble white with restraint, cling onto the fabric of his suit pants when Haru gets a papercut. It’s the way his eyes turn dark after, the repetitive bob of his Adam’s apple, the dizzying scent that entangles itself around Haru’s brain with the sweetness of a siren’s song.
Daisuke wears hunger like a second skin—dignified, haughty, yes, but with crumbling control. And if there’s anything that brings Haru satisfaction, if there's anything that sinks warm and heavy in his gut—
It’s seeing that carefully kept veneer of humanity shatter beneath his hands.
(Alternatively, the fic wherein Daisuke is a vampire, Haru is a werewolf, but the hunter and the prey aren’t who you think they are.)

Summary
It’s almost funny, in a way that only the cruelest twists of fate can be: Daisuke has finally found love, and it turns out to be the only thing in the world that his money can’t buy.
After all, you can’t buy something that’s already been freely given to another.

After the events of the stage play, Daisuke comes to the conclusion that Haru is already in love with someone. This, of course, happens right after Daisuke finally acknowledges that he’s in love with Haru.There is only one solution if he wants to ensure their partnership survives: to swallow his feelings, and pine away from a safe distance.
Too bad Haru doesn’t seem to agree with that approach.
(Or: a quiet evening on the rooftop of the MCPTF, a shooting star, and a confession that’s been in the making for too long.)

After a long and tough mission abroad, Suzue comes home.
Suzue watches as Mahoro pinches herself, letting out a quiet sound of hurt. Her heart feels ready to burst when Mahoro slowly reaches out, her fingertips grazing Suzue’s cheek like she’s touching a priceless piece of art.
“You’re really here,” Mahoro breathes out.
“I am.”
Suzue blinks, and before she knows it there’s a blurry silhouette jumping into her arms, a weight knocking the breath out of her lungs, and kisses being dropped like raindrops on her forehead, her eyelids, her cheeks.
