Kojiro blinks in surprise, but doesn’t argue, just rolls the bracelet back off and holds it up, dangling down so Kaoru can snatch it.
He can’t explain it, he just wants the green one.
“Whatever you want, Princess,” Kojiro says.
Kaoru flicks the pink beads at his face and turns to walk off as he slips his bracelet on. Kojiro catches up after a few moments and when he slips his arm over Kaoru’s shoulder the sight of the pink bracelet stretched around his wrist stops Kaoru from shrugging him off.Alternatively: Five (5) times Kaoru swaps with Kojiro, and one (1) time he gladly takes what he’s given.

Kaoru's jaw clenched. He shook his head, blinking rapidly as he lifted a hand, wrapped in delicate black lace.
"A hit?" He asked, appalled. "On who? Let me guess, you?"
"Not just me." Kojiro clarified.
“So who the fuck is it?” Kaoru asked, his scowl deepened, and they both stared at each other, Kojiro pleading for Kaoru to put two and two together but the embarrassment washed over him that he had to break it to his old flame like this. His old flame that banned him from the Black Cherry four years ago.
Kaoru is an aspiring showman looking for a fresh new start; after mysteriously departing from his ex-husband, he used his remaining wealth to open the beloved Black Cherry saloon for all the bad apples and rookies looking for entertainment. Kojiro is one of the most dangerous gunslingers in the West with a thirst for trouble and yearning for redemption. They cross paths against their will; and unfortunately for Kaoru, the handsome bandit's still up to no good.

Summary
When Carla invites Kaoru along to a fancy resort, he's imagining a week on the beach, sipping mimosas and enjoying a break from his hectic work life. What he gets is a vacation to "The Regency Resort," a week-long immersion experience where guests get away from the all things modern and step back in time, living as they did in the 1810s. Shoved into stuffy suits and all technology stripped from him, Kaoru expects for this week to be an utter disaster... until a rather handsome duke catches his eye.
As Kaoru begins a precarious dance with "Duke Joseph Luce," he begins to think this week isn't a total loss, but playing make-believe can be tricky, especially when lines begin to blur, and what’s fake morphs into something that may just be real.

Summary
Kaoru clings and pretends that the rapidly approaching end of this charade isn't going to splinter his heart.
And it works.
He survives eight and half weeks of playing house with the only man he’s ever been in love with. Kaoru survives two weeks of things transitioning back to normal. Another week of getting back into skating competitively with unpredictable strangers, of beating them in their races.
It takes three more months for everything to once more clock Kaoru solidly in the face, and it’s Miya’s fault.

Summary

"Thank you for saving me, handsome." Kaoru purred, his breath hot on Kojiro's skin. He wondered how it would sound if it raised a pitch, breathless, broken, debauched, and—
"It's my job." Kojiro answered, his exertion clear in his tone. But he didn't look Kaoru in the eye, the dimmed lights of the street did nothing to hide the pink in his sun-kissed cheeks. "Don't gotta thank me for nothin'."
"You're right. I should be a little more grateful when all I do is cause trouble for you."
"Who said it ain't fun knockin' out a couple teeth?"
Kaoru smiled at Kojiro's joke, small but genuine, and Kojiro smiled too.
Kaoru laced their fingers together, bold.
"I want you to come home with me." He said, all shades of desperate.
Kojiro keeps it simple. He's a chef by day and a tough bouncer by night. Kaoru, the club's best dancer, makes good cash but loves a bad riot. He's far from simple to Kojiro; until one night, they decide to give into each other's wants: releasing some tension.

Summary
The trouble with being in love with your best friend was, there was nowhere for that excess of feeling to go. Kojiro had no interest in risking everything they’d built together over the years, and it’s not like he could talk to anyone about his feelings. The whole situation was unspeakably humiliating.
The feeling was just too big to contain, so maybe it spilled out occasionally. Maybe, just maybe, Kojiro had been drafting a confession letter since their first year of high school. It wasn’t like he was ever going to send it. It was just something to occupy his time, a place to express the fondness that overpowered him when Kaoru sent a rare smile his way and he felt like his heart might actually, physically melt in his chest. He had a leather jacket tied around his waist, just a plain white tank top on, and a gold chain necklace. His black jeans were coupled with heavy-looking combat boots. Silver rings shone on his fingers and a bracelet hugged his right wrist. Black ink wrapped around his bulky arms and disappeared in the collar of his shirt with a hint of more tattoos peeking from his tank top; a tiger’s mane that resembled the sun’s flare. Kaoru wondered where it ended. He was the kind of handsome you’d see in magazines showcasing the next Don Juan of the generation, in his own cryptic way of showing it, something about his energy oozing pure sex and man was it effective.
Shit. Kaoru was staring.
In which Kaoru meets a hot stranger in the middle of trying to escape his own birthday party. He dances with them, gets their number, goes home with them, and maybe even makes out with them. All in one night, but not in that same order.

“You have no idea how grateful I am,” Kojiro says, so quietly it’s almost a whisper.
And then he smiles that stupid, lazy, signature, boyish smile of his and Kaoru is helpless but to lean over and kiss him; helpess but to cup Kojiro’s face between his hands and press chaste kiss after kiss against his warmth. It’s a catch-22, really, for Kaoru to fall prey to the temptations of Kojiro’s smile like this, yet with each touch of their lips Kojiro’s smile only becomes more endearing.
They hear Yua barrelling back into the room before they see her. She huffs out a giggly, “Ew,” and when they pull apart, she’s standing next to Kojiro’s knee, looking up at them with her little nose wrinkled in fake disgust.
“Ew?” Kojiro parrots back at her, still smiling wide, running the pads of his fingers over the loose green curls hanging down her forehead.
“Kissing is yucky,” she says defiantly.
Kojiro and Kaoru have a cosy family Christmas with their daughter.
