Summary
Over the past four years, Jack Abbot has built a fortress of routine around his deaf daughter, Josie. He’s mastered the signs and survived the grief, keeping his head just above water. But when his childcare falls through, the walls of his carefully constructed world begin to crumble.
Samira Mohan is exhausted and drowning in debt. Desperate for a way out, she takes up the job of nannying Jack Abbot's young daughter. But, she didn't expect to fall in love with a spunky girl who speaks with her hands, and she certainly didn't expect to find a man worth knowing behind Jack’s guarded exterior.
As Samira weaves herself into their lives, Jack realizes he’s been so focused on surviving the silence that he’s forgotten how to let the music back in.

Summary
From the moment they had crossed paths on the first day of his oncology rotation, Marisol Flores had proven to Jack Abbot what he long knew to be true- he was better off in the company of women much smarter than himself. She’d been the one to outdo any others and, somehow, had relegated herself to loving him back.
On February 3, 2020, Marisol Flores Abbot passed away. But with Samira Mohan’s arrival at PTMC, Jack’s beginning to feel as though she never left at all.

Summary
Samira Mohan, by all accounts, should hate Jack Abbot.
She's at the peak of her music career, and she has nothing to show for it. Every award, every chance to top the charts, has been ripped away by artists backed by Jack Abbot, the industry’s most sought-after manager and producer. He’s everywhere she wants to be, and he knows exactly how to get under her skin.
When an uncharacteristic public outburst threatens to destroy her carefully crafted image, Samira is given an ultimatum: join Jack’s team or risk being shut out of the industry altogether. Forced to collaborate, to serve something bigger than herself, and to work directly with the man she blames for her lack of accolades, Samira can finally see the Grammy Award just out of reach. But only if she can trust him.
Samira Mohan, by all accounts, should hate Jack Abbot. But sometimes, hate can spiral into something more dangerous.

Summary
As if the world had not already been cruel enough to Jack Abbot—after losing a leg in the army and burying his first wife— life decided to test him once more just when he had finally found peace with Samira Mohan.
They were at their best. She, an attending physician. He, the night shift supervisor. A home built between research, endless shifts, and promises whispered at dawn.
Everything was fine until the headaches began. The mild confusion. The uncomfortable silences. The diagnosis was merciless: glioblastoma multiforme.
His greatest fear had always been leaving Samira alone. Now that fear had a name and an expiration date. In the best-case scenario, he had twelve months left. In medical reality: six.
So Jack made an impossible decision: to keep the secret, to pretend everything was normal, and to turn those final months into the happiest of their lives. Travel. Laughter. Shared routines. Love multiplied.
And when he could no longer stay, he would leave letters behind.
Because if he could not save himself, at least he would save the woman he loved

Summary
Jack Abbot is two beers and a bourbon into the evening, pleasantly warm but not actually drunk. He thinks if he was drunk, he’d write this whole conversation off as an elaborate hallucination. Chucking a handful of mixed nuts into his mouth, he’s still not entirely sold on it not being some sex-deprived, testosterone-fueled fantasy his mind has cooked up after a full dose of trazodone.
Apparently, Samira Mohan is a virgin.
++
Samira doesn't want to finish out her residency still a virgin. She asks Jack Abbot to help. There are to be no feelings involved.

Summary
Samira looks at Robby and sees a father figure. Robby looks at her and sees himself. Jack Abbot sees them both so clearly.
--
She can hear her college roommate’s voice in her head. “That sounds like a textbook case of daddy issues.” Which isn’t entirely wrong. Like many young women with unresolved father-shaped wounds, she has a tendency to imprint onto older men.
It would be less weird if Samira wanted to fuck Robby.
What she wants is so much worse.
And yet it feels just as inappropriate to imagine. He’s her boss. Her abandonment issues and aching loneliness should be checked at the door when she walks into work because she’s twenty-seven years old and this is a fucking emergency room.
And yet. It doesn’t stop her from wanting.
