Months after getting his powers, when the Fantastic Four had cemented themselves as the brand new superhero team of New York, Johnny Storm met photographer Peter Parker—right before his first encounter with fellow hero Spider-Man.
A conclusion followed quite fast: neither seemed to like him very much, but at least one of them was in his bed.

“You can buy me dinner instead.” Johnny winked without missing a beat.
“Can we kick them out?” Logan grunted, smoke curling lazily from his cigar.
It's poker night, Peter can't stop flirting with his boyfriend, and people are sick of it. Good thing they never claimed to be good at hiding their not-so-secret-relationship.

Johnny let himself lean in just a little. Head to Peter’s shoulder, eyes closed. Just a second. “I’m not your boyfriend anymore. You don’t have to take care of me.”
Peter’s response was immediate, grumbled under his breath like a reflex. “See? Now you’re saying dumb things. You need to be checked out.”

Or, Johnny’s secret tattoo goes public, Peter can’t stop thinking about it and the whole entirety of New York thinking they are dating doesn't help.

Peter frowned. He glanced down—yep, still wearing pajama pants with little spiders on them. Not exactly intimidating. Still, he walked over to the door and cracked it open.
And on the other side was a kid.
Fourteen, maybe. Wild brown curls, big brown eyes. She was standing like she’d practiced this, like she was ready for anything, but her hands were clenched tight at her sides and her jaw was trembling just slightly.
Peter blinked. “Uh… can I help you? Let me just preface this by saying, I don't have money for the cookies. Or for anything, really.
She looked up at him, unimpressed.
“Hi, dad.”

“Hey,” Peter said without opening his eyes. He buzzed with awareness – not quite spider-sense, but a pleasant alternative, the electric tingle of Johnny in bed next to him, the soft sound of his breath and the bonfire-faded, criminally expensive cologne scent of him. “You know I love you, right?”
Johnny breathed out, slow, and settled his head on Peter’s shoulder. “I love you.”
“Good,” Peter said, smiling.
Johnny flung an arm over Peter’s chest and Peter hummed sleepily, relaxing into his hold.
He woke up around sunrise to the pad of paws on the pillow, a two second warning before five pounds of fluff settled on top of his head and immediately started purring. A tail swished in his eye.
“I hate this,” Peter said without conviction.

The Spider. Gone was the man, and only the costume was left. Slick and black, looking like the symbiote suit Peter had picked up on Battleworld. Johnny had always hated it. Hated the way Peter looked in it, the way the black mask rendered the shape of his face underneath nearly unknowable. Hated every time Peter had donned the cloth version afterwards and lost himself in his own rage.
“Johnny,” the Spider said, looking up at him. His lips curved into a smile. “I’m happy to see you. Come here.”

Johnny falls into the Spider's universe, where everything in the wake of the Superhero Registration Act went very differently. Order has fallen, and in this world Peter Parker reigns supreme.
Trapped in Peter Parker's fortress with his powers failing and separated from Ben and Victor, he tries to his best to avoid being caught in his web, but Johnny is tired, and the Spider is still Peter Parker, the man Johnny's been in love with for years.

Peter freezes. This is hell of a bomb to drop on a guy when he’s making sandwiches at F.E.A.S.T. He turns to look at Miles as if he grew an extra head, laughing nervously.
“Cause I’m not dating Johnny?” Peter says, although it sounds way more like he’s asking him.Peter works out what he is to Johnny, albeit with much difficulty.
