Derek turns his face into the touch, kisses Stiles’ palm, and then closes his eyes. When he opens them, they’re red as garnet, and his fangs have dropped when he exhales a warm, damp breath across Stiles’ palm.
“You’re gonna be my good boy… Understand?”

“I…don’t have to go through that, you do.” Derek redirected.
OR
Stiles and Derek have always wanted each other but never did anything about it. Not until a life or death experience happened and the feelings couldn't be held back.

The air in the room is thick with an unspoken secret that Derek clearly isn’t privy to, judging from the weary glances his colleagues spare him. There’s no time to think about why he’s suddenly become the focus of everyone’s attention when they have a defenseless patient on the table.
“What the hell is going on?” he demands, watching in confusion as avoidant eyes frantically dart between him and their patient. Derek follows their gaze, fixating on the chest wound’s ragged edges, on what is simultaneously the most beautiful and heart-wrenching thing he's ever seen.
They say the day a person meets their soulmate is supposed to be the happiest day of their life. Unfortunately, for Derek, life is a cruel bitch.
His vision goes white at the edges. Peeking through the bloodied mess of tissue, marred only by the abraded skin of the bullet wound, is a familiar soulmark. His soulmark. Their soulmark.

Lily didn’t say anything, sure that she had just revealed entirely too much, and was thinking of ways to play this entire conversation off as a joke when James spoke up again, more hesitantly this time.
“Besides, if you want to know if I’m interested in a girl, there’s a better way to tell.”

Only now does Stiles spare Derek a glance, pitying smile falling short of shrewd, contemplative eyes that sparkle when they catch the dappled sunlight. “The universe engraves a name on our skin, my friend. If it was meant to be private, we’d have the name on our ass.” Derek bristles. They are not friends—at least, not yet. At the rate they’re going, probably never “I’m trying to protect my best friend, dude. Questions aren’t illegal.”
“Has anyone ever told you, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar?”
Warm brown eyes lock on his. “Do you want me to sugar you up, Derek?”
“Why are you such an asshole?” With Isaac, Boyd and Erica, Stiles doesn’t act like this. In fact, their two packs have meshed better than Derek could ever have hoped, but Stiles and Derek are still oil and water.
“Asshole’s my middle name,” Stiles snarks back.
“Then your soulmate is lucky it’s only your first name written on their palm,” Derek sneers.
Stiles shrugs, gathering up his supplies and moving along the property line. “I wouldn’t be too sure about that.”

The man (who Derek had taken to calling ‘Bambi’ in his head) had arrived at Hale’s Bookish Tales painfully early that morning. Normally when he came in he would sprawl out in the desk under the large bay window up front, but today he’d made a bee-line for the lower level and hadn’t returned to the surface since.
Not even after the mass blizzard alert hit, and all the other customers had fled.
If it wasn’t for Derek’s increasingly unhinged infatuation with the man - and thus over-awareness of his presence - he wouldn’t even have noticed that a customer still remained in his bookshop. But Derek had been carefully watching the stream of customers filing out, and had noticed the glaring absence of one in particular.

Stiles must have made some kind of noise, because the woman’s head snaps up.
“Oh,” she says. “You’re awake. That’s a good sign. Try to stay that way this time, will you?” She turns back over her shoulder and calls out, “Derek! He’s conscious!”
The loudness of it makes Stiles’ head throb so hard that he almost doesn’t comprehend what she said. It isn’t until Derek is right there, in the room, leaning over him with that same concerned scowl, that Stiles realizes he wasn’t dreaming earlier.
“Derek,” Stiles croaks. “What are you doing here?”
The scowl deepens. “You break into my house after four years of nothing, collapse on my floor covered in blood, and then have the gall to ask me what I’m doing here?”
